Caramel Corn IV

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
I made too much regular popcorn for the game this last Sunday so I went to this site and looked up caramel corn and found this recipe. Started making it and WHILE i was making it, I decided to read the reviews. I thought ", sounds like I should've read the reviews" - but I made it as is except I stirred the caramel during the 5 min nonstir time and I only baked 10 minutes @ 275 degrees ( I like my caramel corn chewy). It came out great! I won't eat store bought caramel corn again, and will always use this receipe.

Speedy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
I LOVE caramel rolls and was delighted to find this recipe. I had an exxtra loaf of bread dough that I was going to through out, but thought I'd try to find a recipe for it. I read through the ingredients and unfortunately, I didn't have cream. So I made this recipe with 1% milk and it STILL turned out great. Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely make this again!

BBQ Chicken Calzones

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Great recipe. I've never had BBQ chxn pizza, but I figured how can you not like it. I used frozen bread dough, as I do with all my calzones (that way I didn't have to go to the store, too), made the recipe as stated execpt I brushed the dough with an egg white/water wash. Very good, definitely a keeper. Thanks for the recipe.

Frosted Banana Bars

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
I'm not a huge banana fan but had some ripe bananas to use up (& I already have 2 loaves of banana bread). So I was looking for something different to make - since I'm not a huge banana fan I thought these were ok. But I brought them to work and everyone RAVED about them and asked for the recipe. I took one of the reviewers suggestion and made the Whipped Cream Cream Cheese frosting for these bars (awesome frosting!!).

San Antonio Salad

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
Tasty salad. I added black olives and green peppers (you can basically add any item you would normally use on tacos). Oh, and I added some sour cream each serving (with the salsa) - made it even better. Great recipe.

Chicken Chimichangas

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
These were very tasty. I only had the taco sized tortillas, but it still worked out. I added 2 Tblspn of chile powerd and 1/2 tsp of cumin to the shredded chicken, as I thought it was going to be a bit bland. I tried a couple reader's suggestions and baked some of them. Maybe they would've tasted good had I not already ate one that was fried - they can't compare! My suggestion: fry them, enjoy your dinner, and work out the next day :)

Wild Rice Casserole I

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2008
I feel strange being one of the rare few that didn't care for this dish. It was too salty, and I didn't even add salt to the recipe. Not sure if I was supposed to use the seasoning packet that came with the rice, but I ended up using it since there weren't any seasonings in the recipe. It wasn't terrible, just not a fave of mine.

Crabmeat Rollups

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
Holy Butter! But maybe that is what makes this recipe so tasty!! I remember my mom making these when I was younger and I made them this past weekend. I only broiled 6 rolls and will keep the others on hand in the freezer. I may try to cut down on the butter in the cheese mixture as it looked like more butter than I needed. Love them!!

Stained Glass Window Cookies

I didn't care for these - the cookie itself was very bland.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
These taste like mini apple pies, they're awesome. I used 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar and used sprite vs Mt. Dew. I didn't think it was too sugary, so not sure why some people are halving the sugar. Next time I'd like to take one person's advice and coat the apple slices with sugar and cinnamon before wrapping them in the dough.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
EXCELLENT! I made a "practice" cake the Friday before Christmas and my mom loved it. Unfortunately I'm not a big Tiramisu fan so only a few pieces were eaten from that cake. Then I made the actual "master piece" for Christmas dinner and my in-laws, who are huge Tiramisu fans, LOVED it. I used all the suggestions from other reviews like making 2 coffee layers, and doubling the amount of coffee anywhere it asked for it. I used 3/4 cup of instant coffee over the cakes. I will definently make this again!

Ravioli Dolci (Sweet Ravioli)

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
These cookies are excellent. I made 3 batches during the holidays and everyone loved them. I used a round cookie cutter so they looked more like little tarts than ravioli's.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
I didn't read the reviews before making these, wish I had so that I could make the proper adjustments. The dough was somewhat hard to work with, but just put in the fridge when it became too soft. That and I used alot of flour when rolling it out. The taste is ok - not the best. Not sure if I'll make this one again.
