Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I had my doubts about this soup when I got everything in the pan, it just did not look appealing at all and if it didn't look appealing the kids weren't going to touch it. But after it simmered awhile it's appearance reminded me somewhat of a minestrone soup. Having a large family I did add a bit extra to stretch the soup out. I used a 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes and along with the 2 cans of chicken broth I added 2 cans of vegetable broth. I also added some chopped zuccini and some italian parsley from the garden. There was no need for the flour and margarine. All 5 kids and the hubby approved, even the 7 year old fussy eater ate and asked for more!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I struggled for a long time to find a perfect meatloaf recipe. The famly always claimed my meatloaf was good, but I never cared for it. First time I made this meatloaf everyone just raved about it, including the more picky eaters. I did add a dash of low sodium wortceshire sauce. This is a keeper and will be my main meatloaf from now on.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
After being up all night with a sick baby, my 7 year old cheerfully reminded me that I was suppose to bake banana cake for the company that was coming for dinner. Now I am the baker in the family, but I hadn't baked anything in along time plus I was lacking sleep so I had my doubts as to how well the finished product was going to be. In spite of those two facts, the double batch of banana cake (I had a lot of bananas to use up!)I made using this recipe came out wonderfully. Making a double batch gave me roughly 2 9x13 sized cakes (one was a bit smaller, so the kids and hubby got to eat that all week instead of the company) I did add about a 1/4 cup extra butter b/c when I creamed the sugars and butter together, it looked a bit dry to me. I added some cinnamon also and like some of the others who have posted reviews, it took longer to bake that what is stated in the recipe. I cheated on the frosting and used a canned cream cheese one, next time I use this recipe-and I will without a doubt- I will make a cream cheese one from this site.

Reese's® Frozen Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2002
This was fantastic!! I suppose that you could leave out the pecans if you or someone in your family doesn't like pecans, but I think the pecans add a certain something to it! I tried this out in hopes that I would have something new to make for the holidays and I think I have it!! Adults and kids in the family loved it!!

I am a chocolate fanatic but was not overly thrilled with this recipe. It's not bad at all but not as chocolatey as I envisioned.Might try again and add chocolate chips.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
This tasted very good but I used a smaller roast and cut back on the water and spices a bit. Even with cutting back on the water this came out a bit on the soupy side. Will make again but will be even more careful next time about the water.
