Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2014
These pancakes are fantastic!! I have 3 fussy girls and 2 will eat-anything-in-sight boys and everyone loves these pumpkin pancakes. I have to double the recipe to make sure everyone gets enough. The only thing I do differently is omit the allspice, increase the cinnamon to 1 1/2 teaspoons and I add a 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. This is a keeper for sure!

Zucchini Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2013
Fantastic recipe! All I had was a 13x9 pan and there was enough batter for that plus a bit extra so poured the rest into a smaller pan. The cake was so moist I could have gotten away with just a dusting of powder sugar on it but I went with a vanilla frosting. All 5 kids and the husband loved it. Going to make some more and trying freezing some for the winter. This is a keeper for sure!!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
This bread pudding is fantastic, a big hit with everyone in the family, even the kids who usually cringe at the idea of bread pudding. I actually doubled the recipe with no problems, except for the sugar, I felt that was plenty. The results were wonderful, this is a keeper of a recipe!!

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
I got this recipe from my mother in law several years ago, way b4 the red velvet craze of the past couple of years. It is a Christmas tradtion in the whole family...and a birthday tradition now too. My kids always ask for this as their birthday cake, I just change the color to match their favorite color. Speaking for myself I make it better now then I did the first few times I made it. Yes, it requires following instructions that you are not familar with, but it's worth it and it sure beats a baked red velvet cake...which is bland and tasteless!

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2012
This cake has become a family favorite fast. I grew up with my Grandmother's apple cake recipe, which everyone loved, but this is so much better than her cake! I didn't change a thing, I followed the recipe exactly. The kids love it with no frosting, just a bit of powder sugar. This is keeper, trust me!!

Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I had my doubts about this soup when I got everything in the pan, it just did not look appealing at all and if it didn't look appealing the kids weren't going to touch it. But after it simmered awhile it's appearance reminded me somewhat of a minestrone soup. Having a large family I did add a bit extra to stretch the soup out. I used a 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes and along with the 2 cans of chicken broth I added 2 cans of vegetable broth. I also added some chopped zuccini and some italian parsley from the garden. There was no need for the flour and margarine. All 5 kids and the hubby approved, even the 7 year old fussy eater ate and asked for more!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I struggled for a long time to find a perfect meatloaf recipe. The famly always claimed my meatloaf was good, but I never cared for it. First time I made this meatloaf everyone just raved about it, including the more picky eaters. I did add a dash of low sodium wortceshire sauce. This is a keeper and will be my main meatloaf from now on.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2005
After being up all night with a sick baby, my 7 year old cheerfully reminded me that I was suppose to bake banana cake for the company that was coming for dinner. Now I am the baker in the family, but I hadn't baked anything in along time plus I was lacking sleep so I had my doubts as to how well the finished product was going to be. In spite of those two facts, the double batch of banana cake (I had a lot of bananas to use up!)I made using this recipe came out wonderfully. Making a double batch gave me roughly 2 9x13 sized cakes (one was a bit smaller, so the kids and hubby got to eat that all week instead of the company) I did add about a 1/4 cup extra butter b/c when I creamed the sugars and butter together, it looked a bit dry to me. I added some cinnamon also and like some of the others who have posted reviews, it took longer to bake that what is stated in the recipe. I cheated on the frosting and used a canned cream cheese one, next time I use this recipe-and I will without a doubt- I will make a cream cheese one from this site.

Reese's® Frozen Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2002
This was fantastic!! I suppose that you could leave out the pecans if you or someone in your family doesn't like pecans, but I think the pecans add a certain something to it! I tried this out in hopes that I would have something new to make for the holidays and I think I have it!! Adults and kids in the family loved it!!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
This tasted very good but I used a smaller roast and cut back on the water and spices a bit. Even with cutting back on the water this came out a bit on the soupy side. Will make again but will be even more careful next time about the water.
