In 2009, I married one of my best friends from high school (nearly 20 years later!). Family is priority one to me and we've built our life around being able to actively participate in their lives on both sides of the family. Cooking is a big part of our get-togethers from planning menus to dividing duties and pulling it all together...together. :)
My favorite things to cook
Staples in my house include slow cooked meals like pot roast and soups/stews. But I like experimenting with things that I normally wouldn't eat and playing with the recipe to try to get myself to like it. This stems from an attempt to eat healthier, but it's become more of a fun challenge. Even carrots can be cooked a hundred different ways (so far the favorite is roasted with salt and thyme) and it's fun to get my family's reactions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The annual Christmas Bake-Off! The one rule is that it has to be made from scratch, otherwise, anything goes! My in-laws do a traditional Thanksgiving with everything under the sun, especially an assortment of fresh cold salads.
My cooking triumphs
Not sure I've had any of these yet although my Mexican Lasagne might make the list.
My cooking tragedies
Baking in general. And chicken. And noodles. I haven't mastered those even though some of them seem so basic. Maybe it's my oven/stove. Yep. That's it.
