This was my first attempt making cinnamon rolls from scratch. Very good! Will certainly make again.

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2014
I made 10 of these jars... 9 for Christmas presents and 1 to keep. It took me to my 3rd jar until I found a method and order that worked for me. First - I left out the nuts, and tweaked the directions to indicate that 1/2 cup of nuts could be added with the contents of the jar. Not everyone likes nuts, and with all the allergies today I felt this was safer. Now, to the order. I did oats, flour/spice mixture, brown sugar, white sugar, chocolate chips. I have no idea how one would successfully add 1/2 cup of nuts in addition, which is one of the reasons I am docking a star from the recipe. I made the jar that I reserved for myself, and had to add a little more butter to get the dough to stick together enough. That is the other reason I knocked it down a star. The cookies, however, where fabulous. I only got about 26, and baked them for the lower amount of time.

Very simple method to get juicy fall off the bone ribs. Easy to tailor to personal tastes. I did not marinate, and they were still great. Thank you.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2014
So delicious... For a treat! I'll need to play around with the recipe to reduce the guilt factor, but this is definitely delicious. I used 1 cup self rising corn meal so I reduced the baking soda and salt by half; I also used white wheat flour and 2% milk because that is what I had. Beautiful rise, texture and color! Only baked for 30 minutes in a 9x9 pan.

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
I usually make "moms buttermilk pancakes" from this site which we love. Sometimes I want a more filling oatmeal type pancake and this hit the spit. I used whole wheat flour, old fashioned oats, applesauce instead of oil, and sweetened with pure maple syrup instead of white sugar. I doubled the recipe so I could freeze the leftovers for a quick weekday breakfast (toaster on low heat, two times). Thank you!

Make-Ahead Vegetarian Moroccan Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
I followed the recipe as close as I could, only changing golden raisins for the apricots and swapping one sweet potato for one white. Very, very good. Nice mellow flavor and chock full of nutritious veggies. It's Halloween week and the weather is crisp... My husband (a meat lover) declared this a wonderful "Fall" soup. This recipe will be made many times!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
Solid base recipe. I did all the chopping the night before, so all I had to do in the morning before work was combine and stir. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to tailor to individual tastes, butt is very simple and good as is.

Good recipe. I didn't have vanilla; I subbed applesauce for oil and used half wheat flour. My 3 and 1 year old loved these!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
My only complaint is that one teaspoon of pepper is too much. My one year old wouldn't eat it and she normally loves homemade potato soup. Otherwise, I though this was great and will be making this again. I added more vegetables than called for. I used: 4 cups of potatoes, 2 celery stalks,, 2 carrot stalks, 1/2 cup onion and1/2 cup frozen corn added at the end... so I increased the water to four cups. I also had to add one extra tablespoon of flour to get the milk mixture to thicken up. Delicious, hearty comforting soup... Just start with less pepper! Next time I will probably use 1/2 teaspoon.

Oatmeal Craisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
Excellent! I used unsalted butter, old fashioned oats, added half a teaspoon of cinnamon and used 1.5 cups of craisins and 1cup of white choc chips. They baked perfectly in fourteen minutes, have a great texture and are uniform. And they made exactly four dozen cookies. Thanks original poster for a wonderful recipe! Next time I may add some nuts...

Asian Shrimp Rice Bowl

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
Delicious! Made a few changes based on personal preference / time considerations / ingredients on hand. I used 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes instead of the chili paste and apricot marmalade instead of orange. Did not marinate the shrimp. Sauteed the shrimp in the oil first for about 3 mintues until cooked, removed from skillet, and then sauteed the veggies and followed the remaining directions. Made the Jasmine rice in the rice cooker like always. Doubled the shrimp. The veggies I used: 1/2 sweet onion, 1 red pepper, 2 cups sugar snap peas, 1 zuchinni, 1 carrot. Will definitely make again! Had a nice kick, but not too spicy.

Excellent! I used 1.5 teaspoons of ground ginger because I was out of fresh. I might stir in something extra next time for some crunch.

Jambalaya

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2012
Delicious! To suit our tastes, we use chicken and ham and shrimp, no sausage. We halve all the "spicy" spices, and double the crushed tomatoes. We cook the rice in a rice cooker on the side. Thanks for all the helpful reviews!

Porcupines

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
Very good! I was tired of the same ole ground beef recipes and this was a nice change. I added some red pepper and baked in home canned tomatoes. I did add a little worchestire sauce as was suggested. A nice "throw back" meal.

Very good. Followed recipe exactly. Added a little celery and scallions. Next time I will probably add some additional spice... maybe some cayenne and apple cider vinegar instead of white. Thanks for the recipe!

These are good, but not great. Good option if I am out of eggs. I prefer Mom's Buttermilk Pancakes from this website instead, but these are a good low fat alternative.

Grilled Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
Smelled wonderful while cooking, but it burned on my indoor grillpan. Not a very strong flavor either. I only marinated for 20 min. Next time I will increase the marinade time and try baking in the oven.
