See my baking adventures up close and personal at . I'm a new wife to my high school sweetheart so I'm learning a lot about cooking (and dishes;)) through experience. My passion is baking and I love making people happy with delicious treats. Plus, I'm a vegetarian so I like tweaking recipes so with just a few differences I can serve a healthy meal that satisfies both my meat-loving husband and I.
My favorite things to cook
I'm definitely more of a baker- I love cookies, cakes and all things sweet! I also like trying healthy alternatives and seeing how to make classic recipes a bit healthier and more vegetarian-friendly.

My cooking tragedies
It still saddens my heart when I think of the beautiful 2 tiered chocolate masterpiece with marshmallow frosting and sprinkles that took the great dive. I had spent all day working on it for my friends 13th birthday and had it on a plate on top of a cake plate, I was a proud chef showing my mother when she sneezed (and thoughtfully turned her head) and I yanked it away - sending the top plate flinging off the cake one and plummeting to the floor. Of course it was frosting side-down. Oh the tears that ensued.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread
YUM! Just what I want from zucc. muffins. Used our stash of frozen local-picked blueberries and farm share zucc and it was phenom! Solid muffins, with the right ratio of sweet to satisfying. I did 1/2 the oil and subbed applesauce. I also wanted to use up more zucc. so I did a batch and a half w/ 3 c. zucc. and 5 eggs and it worked beautifully. Enough for the 4 mini loaves and 18 muffins. Thank you!

Caramel Frosting V
Bummer! Honestly I'd have skipped this recipe if I'd had half a clue what a challenging mess it would turn into. First of all, yes, it tastes alright, but if made as written it is a TERRIBLE consistency. I ended up adding half a bag of confectioner's sugar to get it to even stay on my cake (it still slid off by the night's end). Plus, boiling the heavy cream and sugar ended up with the worst mess my stove has ever seen and almost caught the kitchen on fire. I'm sure Carol's mom in law rocked this recipe but I'd suggest you steer clear!

Mint Juleps
Yipes! i hate to leave a bad review but I wouldn't recommend it - so thick and wayyyy too strong (and that's after i cut the bourbon by half!. Not for the weak of heart!
