Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
I made these last weekend, but with cranberries & almonds instead of raisins. Baked for 25 minutes, let it cool down a bit then cut, laid on cooling rack to continuing cooling then stored in an air tight container and week later the 3 that are left are still moist and yummy, not hard! This is an awesome recipe that we will use often, in fact I logged on to to get the recipe again so we can make these but using heath pieces!

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
This is a favorite of my family! We stick to the marinade recipe exactly how it is written but sometime use chicken legs and thighs instead of breast. Marinade overnight or throughout the day and then grill to yumminess!

Herbed Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
I don't know, my family was just not impressed with this recipe at all. Followed the recipe exactly how it was called for and my corn loving family just didn't like it and asked that I not make it again.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
I made this for Thanksgiving instead of pumpkin pie and it was such a hit! I increased the cream cheese to 3 8oz packages and the pumpkin to 8oz. The cheesecake was rich and creamy and the pumpkin layer has a yummy pumpkin flavor to it that wasn't over powering (from a girl who is not a pumpkin pie fan).

Baked Spaghetti Squash Lasagna Style

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Yum! My husband who isn't a big fan of squash or tomatoes loved this, and so did our picky three year old! We're not a fan of olives, so I left those out but did throw in a pound of sausage instead. For cheeses I used a 6 Italian cheese blend instead of just mozzarella (it's in there of course). I used Italian style stewed tomatoes, and my sausage was sage seasoned. Very simple tasty recipe that I plan on making again.

Best Apple Crisp Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I started making this recipe before I even read the reviews. I'm not sure what everyone was having problems with but the topping came out great and the crisp was not dry at all. I did everything according to directions (except my family cans apples like crazy in the fall so I used those instead of slicing my own apples. One of our jars equals 4 apple slices). I did not have a problem at all with the topping and I did not use a pastry blender, just whisked it all together and poured on top and came out great! My husband and daughter loved it. Goes great with french vanialla ice cream!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I was looking for a quick recipe with stuff that I already had and I came across this recipe. My husband is always a fan of chicken fried chicken so I knew I couldn't go wrong with this. He loved it! It's a keeper. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out beautifully. Next time I'm going to take someone else's suggestion and marinate the chicken in buttermilk before breading/cooking just to see what kind of flavor that brings out! (I usually have buttermilk on hand but I didn't the night I made this). I served it over mashed potatos and topped it with country style gravy and had buttery garlic aparagus as a side.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
I can't believe it... this is almost the exact same as my own potato soup which I just threw together one day along time ago and have always made since then. With mine, I use the same ingriendents as the recipe but I also add a touch of garlic powder, carrots, peas, and corn and if I have it on hand I also add a bit whipping cream. My soup is probably very fattening with the butter and whipping cream but oh so worth it LOL My father in law raises pigs so it seems like we always have ham around so I always bake that up the night before and cut it up for the soup. It is the best! We were out of ham last week so I tried store bought already cooked/diced ham and it totally did not have the flavor that my own cooked ham adds to the soup.

Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I made this last night and it was pretty good. This is my husband's favorite chinese dish so I was excited to make it for him. We both agreed that something was lacking in it but couldn't pin-point it (he was thinking possiable the cornstarch for breading on the pork or maybe just the oil used). I will defiantly keep this recipe on file and make it again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
This was so yummy! I was telling everyone about it the next day. The only reason why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I thought the flour/paparika was boring with this recipe. Next time I will use others suggestions by using italian breadcrumbs instead to coat it! I did use the suggestion by someone else to put the Swiss cheese between two slices of ham then rolling it up and then putting it in the chicken and folding the chicken over and no cheese melted outside of the chicken. I will be making this all the time now! Thanks for such a great recipe!

Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
Because this is two recipes in one I'm rating it a 3. The cookies alone would have been a 5! They were delicious and so easy to roll out and my daughter had a ball baking and decorating them... and even more fun eatting them and bouncing off the walls with her sugar high. The frosting however was pretty plain. My husband did like it but everyone else agreed with me that it was anything special and not that much flavoring to it. I was thinking it would have a richer flavor to it reading the buttercream description. I would have rated this a two alone. I will defiantly be using this cookie recipe in the future and cannot wait until Valentines to do more cut-outs with my daughter but we will be looking for a new frosting recipe!

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
Missing the tuna casserole my mom use to make I decided to try this one. Reading some other reviews and remembering that my mom used a lot more soup then this recipe required I decided to add in the chedder cheese soup someone reccommended and I also used pilmentos as reccommended by someone else, and another can of tuna. I thought it was pretty boring tasting, not the flavorful comfort casserole I remember from my mom. Although my husband said it was good I dreaded the leftovers the next day. My daughter also would not eat it. I will not be making this particular recipe again.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
My husband requests this recipe all the time now... to the point that I'm getting sick of it! LOL We use sausage, and then instead of sliced mozseralla and provolone we use the Sargento's bag of mixed shredded mozzeralla and provolone cheese. I also use a bit more sour cream then needed and it is just so tasty and cheesy/creamy! I love that it makes a ton which means left overs and no cooking the next night! We made this for my brother and his wife the first night home from having a baby and I later found out that my brother called home to my mom and told her how great of a cook I was and that they loved the ziti I made and they should have me make it for them! You know it's good when it warrents a call home from your brother!
