About this Cook
I'm prior service turned military wife. My family has moved around a bit and I've gotten to taste a little of all over really. Not everywhere, but a good bit of the country. I'm a mom of a wonderful little girl, and wife to a wonderful husband (who as well as me, enjoys good food-ok, as well as any other red blooded american out there). I love my family, my dogs, the outdoors (land and water), bbq's, summer...anything that is considered good in life.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite meal is dinner. Anything that can be considered a feel good dinner is great by me, whether it be soup, pasta, meat, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition has to be Christmas time and family gatherings. For Christmas we always make gift bags full of baked goodies, and it's always a treat picking out what we're making to fill them. For family gatherings we always make large meals, and it's just a wonderful thing to be surrounded by loved ones eating a good meal. This is when life is not only good, but overwhelmingly fulfilling.
My cooking triumphs
My proudest moment was my first Thanksgiving turkey. I was sure that something was going to go awry since everyone seems to have a turkey story. To my surprise, it turned out perfectly. Thankfully, since we asked friends who could not make it home for the holidays.
My cooking tragedies
When I tried to make garlic bread for my boyfriend (later to be husband, he forgave me or forgot about this moment) I used fresh garlic. I used A LOT of fresh garlic. I had gone on and on and on about how wonderful it was going to be. We both took HUGE bites, and promptly spit them out. Thank goodness for second dates.

Coconut Shrimp I
These are Devine! I pan fried on medium high heat, which worked but you have to watch them. I also added some fresh salsa to the orange marmalade mix which kicked it up. Definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts
This is my favorite recipe for brussel sprouts also. The only thing I do differently is that I halve them and then prepare them as above, rounded side down on baking sheet. Delicious!!!

Smooth Sweet Tea
Perfect drink for a hot day! Will not disappoint you. I use the lipton ice tea bags (they're larger than regular ones) and use three. It's perfect! A staple to our diet during the hot months!
