About this Cook
I am the oldest of three sisters named after both maternal/paternal grandmothers who were EXCELLENT cooks...Mom was a great cook...Dad was spoiled by my grandmother and Mom with sweets and being the oldest daughter I was the designated cook when Mom was too busy..was very blessed to cook for my 94 year old Grandfather who just passed away in March of 2006. Mom and Dad are also passed away but I have my niece of which we have cooked on occasion and bake Christmas cookies together every year.
My favorite things to cook
Almost anything...I will try and experiment with anything I think my family will enjoy...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making homemade breads and cookies for Christmas-my favorite tradition as a child was watching Mom cook with the old Betty Crocker cookbook my aunt gave her as a wedding present. Mom would make those soft honey Christmas stocking cookies and we kids would decorated doing pies for Thanksgiving...there's a special chocolate sheet cake I make for birthdays and my brother/niece fight over it..the cake was Dad's favorite.
My cooking triumphs
Any desserts and most other dishes...
My cooking tragedies
Until recently...pie crust from scratch...

World's Best Pasta Sauce!
When I first made the 'World's Best Lasagna' a while back after I cooked the sauce it deserved a TEN rating by itself. It to me is one of the easiest yet very favorable homemade meat sauces and it will definitely go with any pasta of your choice. Another great thing about the sauce as the video stated is the seasoning can be modified to your liking as well. Thanks again John!

World's Best Lasagna
I've JUST made the homemade sauce and that within itself should have TEN STARS! I omitted the tablespoon of salt (just added a little sea salt as the saltiness increased as the sauce heated) added some oregano and about 6 Tablespoons of sugar total---yummy (I will NEVER buy a ready-made sauce for MY lasagna again!!) I assembled the lasagna and allowed it to marinate overnight and baked it when I got home from work today. !!DELICIOSO!! I also layered the dry noodles as directed and they cooked through just fine and had the right texture (sometimes they are too wet after boiling and it messes with all the great sauce you worked so hard to make!) Thanks John-I now have a new standard LASAGNA RECIPE! =)

Sweet Potato Pie from EAGLE BRAND(R)
This pie has been THE standard sweet potato pie in my family since the mid 80's. It has a nice smooth texture and flavor. I have substituted ginger for the nutmeg and I also use a bit of allspice for variation.
