I was born in the Middle East and ever since I was litte, I would watch my mother cooking on the kitchen floor, we didnt have counters and cabinets and the time. She spent most of her time cooking, coming up with new ideas and trying different techniques to perfect her recipes. She cooked mostly Oriental and Middle Eatern dishes, most of which contained rice with steamed or boiled vegetables and meat. I soon got married and moved to the US where I learned about Southern Food. Just kidding, I learned to combine my middle eastern dishes to fried/grilled and broiled food. Plenty of new recipes came up along he way, and now I'd like to share a few of them with you
My favorite things to cook
Anything and Everything. My daughters don't like to cook as much as I do, and think its a waste of time. They are just used to eating fast food, and I hope one day I can put my recipes in a book where they can use them when they are married if they change their minds about cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make lots of different types of pickles, cucumber pickles, carrots, broccoli, jalapeno, etc. We place them in large airtight jars in a dark space for 2-3 weeks depending on the vegetable.
