About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I like baking and making bread at present.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I really like European desserts , especially traditional Christmas deserts
My cooking triumphs
I don't like to brag, but most things I make turn out well
My cooking tragedies
I made a version of Buche de Noel before Christmas, but used a Victoria Sandwich recipe instead of spongecake. It broke up when I rolled it, but I sort of rounded it off with chocolate butter icing and it was delicious.

Tres Leches Cake
I just made this and it turned out very well. I am an experienced cook and find that a lot of people that write reviews on this site obviously are not. It might help if recipes were rated as beginning, intermediate or experienced, the way knitting patterns are.

Persimmon Bars
i used melted butter instead of oil, but otherwise didn't change anything. It was out of this world! I have never cooked with persimmons before but think that must have been what gave it the moist quality. It was almost as moist as a bread pudding but more cake like.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies
Fabulous! So simple as well. I used butter, as I always do. I think shortening is disgusting. I think some of the people that review these recipes don't know how to cook. I read that one person forgot the baking powder but "didn't think that would have made enough difference to not make them turn out well" (DUH)
