Kale Orange Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
I liked this! I added vanilla soy milk to make it thinner and easier to drink, and also a TBL of flaxseed. I only used half a banana and about 3/4 cup of kale. yummy!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
If you don't like reviews that change up the recipe, don't read this one! I didn't end up doing slow cooker because of how my day was going, so I cooked the chicken seprately with montreal chicken seasoning and olive oil and I put the sauce ingredients in a big pot and stirred until bubbly. I added 1/2 cup sour cream and a sprinkle of montreal seasoning and a can of green chiles because I just wanted to! I also added two packages of sliced baby bellas that I cooked to soften in olive oil before adding. I served this over jasmine rice or whole wheat egg noodles! yummy! rich and creamy :)

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
This was delicious! I used a rump roast that I trimmed, and for the beer I used Newcastle. I added one clove fresh chopped garlic and about a tsp of liquid smoke. I took french rolls split in half and lightly dipped them in the juices and placed them on a hot non stick pan an placed a lid smaller than the pan to slightly squish the bread and trap the steam from the juices to steam the bread for a minute or two. AMAZING. I used provalone cheese also :) So easy!!

Pumpkin Chipotle Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
This was pretty good with a little bit of tweeking! I would use less onion next time for my taste, and more garlic. Also, I used another pinch or so of the nutmeg, and I didn't have the peppers so I used smoked chipotle pepper seasoning. I didn't have sage or coriander so I used italian seasoning. I also added about 1/3 cup blend of parmesan and romano cheese and some freshly ground pepper. I also toasted some slivered almonds I had on hand in a touch of butter and LIGHTLY salted them and topped the pasta with it! Yum! Great with garlic bread. My picky husband even liked it!

Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
These are delicious and came out just like the picture, so pretty! I doubled the topping and glad I did! This recipe made me 22 regular sized muffins. I didn't have apple sauce so I used apple butter instead and it worked out perfect. I also left out the raisins.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
I loved this recipe! I've never made pound cake before and was craving some kind of cake with ingredients I already had. After reading reviews, I added an extra tsp vanilla, and instead of lemon extract I used zest from a good size lemon and the juice. I also made a glaze from a cup of powdered sugar and the juice of another lemon to make it sticky but runny enough. I poked a bunch of holes in the cake and put the glaze on top. Delicious!! The only down side is that it took so long to bake...I took about ten or fifteen minutes off the time.

Stir-Fried Sweet and Sour Vegetables

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
Very good stir fry sauce! Easy and yummy! I used broccoli, zuchinni, and sliced portobella mushrooms and some seasame seeds! I cooked all the veggies by stir frying, and then added the sauce to warm it up and stired some cooked brown rice with it. Next time I think I will add some fried tofu!

Dessert Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
These are so easy and fast! This wasy my first time making crepes and I will be making them again for sure! No refigeration needed! I added a 1/2 tsp vanilla and substituted whole wheat pastry flour and they came out great! If you do use this type of flour, it does settle to the bottom after some time, so just make sure you stir it every once and a while when making them.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I always change recipes to suit my and my husband's taste when I cook, and this was no different. This recipe was very easy and delicious! After reading the other reviews for this dish, I trippled the vinegar ( I used rice vinegar) and the fish sauce, and doubled the sugar for the sauce. I also added some schiracha hot sauce to it to my taste to give it a hint of spice. I also added chopped cilantro and some grated ginger and toasted minced garlic to the chicken as I was cooking it. When preparing the noodles, I found it was easier to boil some water in the microwave and pour it on the noodles and let soak for a few minutes until soft and drain, instead of waiting an hour in cold water. I also added some fried crumbled firm tofu that I fried while waiting for my chicken to defrost in the microwave. I used lots and lots of green onion and chopped peanuts in and garnished on top! I used canned bean sprouts which turned out good, and I cooked the chicken separate in vegetable oil and a touch of sesame oil and some seasonings. it turned out great, and I love how you can add to this recipe and change whatever you want to suit your tastes! Thanks!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
This was soooo good! I sauteed the mushrooms and spinach with garlic powder and salt and pepper and a splash of white wine before putting in the baking dish, and i also added a splash of white wine to the sauce and used real bacon for the bacon bits. I cooked everything in the same pan inviting all the ingredients to the flavor party! I also cooked the chicken almost all the way in a little of the bacon fat in the saute pan and with grill seasoning and made sure both sides were very brown for extra flavor.

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
These were soooo delicious! I made them as is, only adding some crushed pineapple and subbing dried cranberries for the raisins and subbing pecans for the walnuts! All the textures are great, and this recipe made two dozen for me. I will definitely be making these again!

Spiced Applesauce Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
This was so delicious! I made a few changes though: I peeled and chopped one medium apple and added it, I used half white sugar, half brown, half white flour, half wheat, doubled the spices, and before baking i sprinkled with brown sugar on top with dots of butter. It's wonderful! I think i may end up making another loaf today!

Ravioli Dolci (Sweet Ravioli)

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2008
These were so good! Very time consuming though. My cookies didn't look anything like the picture! They were very good though. I think next time i won't do all of the cutting of the squares and all that...I will just bake them like regular cookies and then put the preserves in the middle of the cookie. Overall, a good recipe!
