Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
Delicious. Let the balls cool off before dipping in chocolate. Followed with a spoonful of oreo crumbs, coconut or skor candy bits on top. Was much easier having extra hands (my 6 & 4 year old daughters) to add the extra bits. Try not to make them too big...it's a very rich and filling treat. But also extremely addictive! I found them much better once cooled or directly from the freezer. Thank You! I'd like to say I'll make them again but they are dangerously delicious.

Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
Really enjoyed this except I'd recommend half the yogurt and lemon. I tasted it just before these additions and it was a five in my books but then the last 2 ingredients made it too tangy. Also I used 2/3 asparagus and 1/3 broccoli and omitted the parmesan cheese. Thank you....definitely will use again.

Eggs Benedict with Salmon

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
This was a great option to traditional hollandaise sauce. It doesn't leave you feeling as full as the sauce is not as heavy as butter based recipes. The entire family loved it and we consider it to be one of the top benny's we have had. We used a few recommendations...added only 1 tsp of lemon juice, used whole grain english muffins, and added a tbsp of butter. Garnished with dill to top off.

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
Great recipe. While my family gobbled it up I think I will use less sour cream next time...maybe 1/3 cup. I also added dill which is always a hit with my kids. Thank you...I will be keeping this one in my recipe box.

Great basic recipe, but requires a few modifications to make it worth a five. Thank you!

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
As made, with shortening the icing would taste pretty commercial and bland and would be very unhealthy. Also I use much less sugar than written...and I love sweet. I do appreciate learning that shortening helps with decorative icing but I use 3/4 butter to 1/4 shortening. The taste is really good, the icing holds its form well for decorating and with the added shortening it keeps me from dipping my fingers in for samples. Thanks!

Caramel Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
Very good. Only concern I had was that I forgot about the seeds that didn't pop and then I ended up with a bunch of popcorn balls with seeds. Some may have caught this but I would have appreciated the heads up. Thanks for the recipe!

Delicious. The dough was a bit sticky with one cup for me, I added nearly an extra half cup. Thank you!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
Really nice & soft. Nothing really special about them though. I thought the pudding would change the flavor. Maybe it was the no name brand I used but these were pretty bland even with the addition of extra vanilla. I won't make these again. Also, I did not alter the recipe.

Spinach and Potato Frittata

Delicious. As always I prefer day old baked potatoes and frozen, defrosted spinach. Love the simplicity and the addition of basil and tomatoes. Thank you

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
Very nice taste but the cooking instructions should not say over medium high heat as the outside browns too fast and the inside is mush. Maybe next time I will try it over low heat? Thanks for the recipe.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2009
These are very similar to cookies my mom used to bake. Cake like cookies aren't a favorite of mine, but banana chocolate chip cookies taste so good as such. I modified the ingredients slightly. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour,1/2 white flour and used only 2/3 the amount of sugar (half white, half brown). I substituted half of the butter with half cup of applesauce which likely added the cakiness but worth the health benefits. Also I modified the quantity to make 27 and ended up with 70 cookies! They are kind of small but definitely large enough for little ones like mine. Thanks Evelyn!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
This is one recipe that will be altered by most ONLY because we all have different tastes. It's a great starter Hummus - not spicy - great for kids. I used artificial lemon juice(1/2 the recommended amount) and it is goood. I modify it slightly every now & again to suit our mood. It's worth a 5 because it's a great one to work with or eat as is. Thanks!

Banana Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
Too sweet...I love sweet but even my five year old couldn't finish one as she said it was too sweet for her and it was making her feel ill. Otherwise, it's tasty but I'd reduce the butter and b.sugar next time.

My very favorite recipe for bread on Allrecipes. I have used this three times so far and I have used pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower seeds and i used ground flax seed. Thanks!

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Mustard often over powers the flavor of Salmon but in this case it was perfect. We had no dijon so I used horseradish mustard....i bet the dijon tastes a little better. I have kids who don't eat pecans yet so I cooked them in the skillet with a bit of sugar and water and put them on the side. I cooked a half of salmon, using the serving of 4 suggested on the main page. I upped the bread by a bit, but it wasn't necessary. Thank you for the recipe!

Bran Flax Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
I love this recipe. It's flavorful and healthy. I substituted for 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 regular. I had no oat bran, so used wheat bran...just a bit less. I doubled the recipe and just guessed at how much to add for fruit/veggies. I used 2 carrot, 2 apples and a small zucchini for the filling as well as 1 1/2 cups raisins. I also threw in some applesauce to have the right wetness. I made 24 regular sized muffins (17 min.) and 24 mini muffins (11 min). Thank you. I will make this again.

Barbeque Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Absolutely what I was looking for. I rarely have BBQ sauce so this was such a delicious treat. I had no vinegar, so used red wine vinegar in its place. I also would recommend doubling the recipe but that's cause I love sauce. I didn't find it too watery....again I love sauce. It's certainly not a paste, but is nice to have the drippings to spoon over the chicken & veggies. Thank you!

Taco Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
A very good salad. I used Catalina instead of French dressing, as suggested by another reviewer, as I don't care for French dressing. I gave this a four because taco seasoning doesn't need to come in a package and it's super easy to make...i followed taco seasoning 1 recipe. It was great. Thanks!
