Smoked Paprika Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
Easy and delicious! I didn't add the onion just because I didn't have any chopped but this tastes great! will definitely make again.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
Very very good and easy. I followed directions except made 1.5x the amount of sauce and also used part cheddar part mexican blend just to get some extra zest. There is no way mine would have fit into a 1qt dish--made in a 2 qt. Was excellent and everyone loved it.

Garlic-Herb Roast Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
Very good. I was only making a 1 lb pork since it was just for my husband and I. I reduced the ingredients by half but otherwise followed the instructions. It did take me a full 50 minutes to get to the correct temp but it was perfectly cooked with great flavor and was very juicy. I plan to make some yummy tenderloin sandwiches with the leftovers.

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
OMG-this was sooo delicious. I am craving the leftovers right now. I followed the recipe except changed out the heavy cream for half and half and reduced it to 3/4 cup since it is more liquidy. This was outstanding. I served with a roasted pork tenderloin and steamed broccoli.

Apple Harvest Pound Cake with Caramel Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Very good cake. I made as a sheet cake because that is the pan I had. I also subbed 1/2 cup of oil for cinnamon applesauce, only added 1 3/4 cup of sugar and regarding the apples used 3 cups of red rome-not sure how much the 2 apples would have yielded. I cooked on 325 and at 50 minutes it was done. Brought into work today and everyone has said how much they love it! Will definitely make again!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Excellent. This was my first go ever making a pie and it turned out wonderfully. I have always been intimidated by pie making but since I didn't make the crust it was really quite easy. I made two days in a row in fact. I made the changes other users suggested subbing out 1T of Water for Vanilla, adding 1t of cinnamon and used red rome apples because that is what I picked from the farm. I made with margarine at my Mother's and the sauce when heated was much thinner than when I made the next day again with Butter. It was actually easier to work with the Margarine even though Butter is the better product. For the first pie I brushed the bottom inside crust with egg whites cooking for 1 hour on 350 then for the 2nd pie I did not use the egg whites but cooked on the higher temp for about 10 minutes. Both worked fine. In both instances I cooked on the bottom shelf in my oven. I took pie #2 to a friend's house for dessert and everyone there raved about it. I will definitely be making and using this recipe again and again!

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
I thought this banana pudding was excellent! I made it for a progressive dinner where there were 6 of us and everyone loved it! I sent some home with the other couples and one of the girls emailed me to say she ate the leftovers for breakfast! I used skim milk, low fat cream cheese, fat free condensed milk, and light cool whip to cut down the calories and only emptied my condensed milk about 85% of the way. I put this in a smaller yet deeper dish so that I could do two full layers of the cookies, bananas, and pudding. I also crumbled a few cookies to put on top and added some bananas right before serving. Last thing-try subbing in Pepperidge Farms Chessmen cookies instead of nilla wafers-you will not be disappointed!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I love this recipe! It is quick to mix up on a weeknight and the chicken only needs to marinate a half hour or so. The extra you brush on while the chicken is on the grill is key. Great flavor and super easy!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This was very good but found it needed a little more gravy, less sausage. I added some additional milk and a touch of flour (just eyeballed it) to make it more fluid. Flavor was great and family enjoyed it.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I thought the flavors of this were very good but agree with another reviewer that is more like a Spanakopita than a quiche. I will make again but next time will divide filling into two pie crusts and then double the egg mixture. I will also probably mix the eggs and mixture before putting in pie pan. Flavors were very good just hoping for an eggier texture.

Apple Cake V

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
Loved this cake! Took it to work and the whole thing was gone by lunch. Also received many requests to make again! I used freshly picked apples (about 6 small) and substituted 1/2 cup of the oil for some homemade cinnamon apple sauce I had at my house. I also added 1 extra tsp of cinnamon. The result was a super moist and flavor filled treat. I am going to try tonight to make into apple muffins. Will update if they turn out well.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
These are wonderful! I do make some modifications so they are more like the Mexican food I am used to eating which does not have red sauce on the inside. I prepare the chicken in chicken broth and shred instead of cube. Next I add the cheese and other ingredients but I do not use tomato sauce or water for the filling. I also add green chiles to this mixture. I then roll and place in the pan. I use enchilada instead of taco sauce as the topping. I find the flavor is better. I do not buy the commercial brands of the sauce (like El Paso) which can taste strange and instead look for a Mexican variety. These are a big crowd pleaser and it is easy to multiply the recipe for large groups. I highly recommend them!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
I wanted to make this because one of my favorite restaurants in town is famous for their peanut butter banana cream pie. Their recipe is available online but was a little more difficult and since this one was similar I went with it. I thought the flavor was wonderful but adding the cornstarch made it just a little firm for my liking. I also would have liked more banana flavor so I will probably add a few more next time. In order to make it like the restaurant's, and an idea for all of you, I used the mini graham cracker tart shells and put a very thin layer of peanut butter on the bottom of the shell. I topped with meringue but next time will use whip cream as I would have liked the sweetness. I baked the pies just long enough to brown the meringue as well. The presentation was perfect and overall the taste was delicious too. I will make again! Oh, and this recipe made just enough for 12 small graham cracker tarts. Perfect for a party!

Banana Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
These were delicious! I had some bananas that were turning brown so I wanted to make something with them and found this recipe. I doubled the cinnamon to both the mix and the topping as well as added an additional banana since I had 3. I did have a little trouble getting the topping crumbly enough but the flavor was perfect! They were moist and the top was sweet and crispy which balanced with the inside since it wasn't too sweet. My husband loved them and I will definitely make again. Thank you for the recipe!
