PHILADELPHIA Double-Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
I really enjoyed this recipe. I made is for Easter dinner and everyone raved about it! While I followed the recipe almost completely, I did use reduced fat cream cheese (all that the store had, but a healthy change, too!) and I heated raspberry preserves in a saucepan and spread over the top just before serving. Yummy!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
This was a great alternative to the traditional corn syrup version of a pecan pie. I really enjoyed the flavor, but the texture was a bit crumbly when it was heated before serving. Overall, I was pleased with this recipe and I will be making it again soon!

Stuffed Pork Chops III

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
This is a great recipe! I was looking for something different to do with pork chops and this hit the spot! I stuck to the recipe for the most part. The only variation I made was to add a few ounces of gorganzola cheese to the stuffing mixture. All I can say is, "YUM!" I also used a bit more beef broth than called for (a 14.5 ounce can) and thickened the drippings up with some flour before serving. I was quite impressed with this dish and I will definitely be making this again!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
Fantastic! I made this last evening for a baking contest today. I made two batches because I couldn't bake and not leave some home for my husband! Anyway, I prepared the ingredients just as listed, but used an 8x8 pan instead. This made the bars a little thicker, meaning I adjusted the baking time by a few minutes for each of the steps. Everyone who tasted these delicious creations raved about how great they were. They were simple and I had most of the ingredients on hand at home. And...I won second place in the contest! I definitely recommend this recipe!

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
I have spent a lot of time trying to replicate the delicious compounds I have had in steak houses. My search is over... this recipe takes the cake! I did not prepare a flat iron steak or follow that part of the recipe. I lightly seasoned some nice shell steaks and served them with the butter and a sun-dried tomato risotto. Delicious!

Sweet Onion Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
Delish! I made this with grilled pork tenderloin and a caesar salad and it was a hit! We ate every last bit of it! I took the advice of others and baked the cracker crust for a few minutes before filling with the other ingredients and it turned out great- not soggy at all! I also did not have whole milk on hand, so I used about half a cup of 1% milk and a quarter cup of half and half and it was fine. Next time, I will experiment with some other cheeses, too. Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
I prepared this stew on a snowy Monday morning and it was nice to come home to a yummy-smelling home with dinner ready and waiting for us! The only thing that I did differently was add a can of crushed tomatoes, as my husband prefers a tomato-based stew. It came out very good and I will definitely use his recipe again soon!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Such a simple and yummy recipe! I used strawberry-rhubarb jam and it came out delicious! I do think I will try the suggestion of others and add some salt and vanilla extract to the next batch of dough.... but I will definitely be making these again! P.S. The baggie trick really works! I was able to neatly fill the thumbprints without much difficulty at all!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
These potatoes were very good... easy and came out rich and creamy. I made a few variations by adding some crumbled bacon and some chives and sprinkled grated parmesan cheese on top and uncovered for the last 20-25 minutes to make a crust on top. My husband and I enjoyed this recipe and I will make it again for sure!

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I was very happy with this recipe. I altered it a bit by sauteeing celery, carrots, onion, and garlic in a bit of olive oil. Then, I added the chicken ( boneless breasts cut into bite-size pieces, which I had browned first) along with the soups. I used reduced sodium cream of celery and regular cream of chicken ( I could not find reduced sodium cream of chicken in my grocery store). I then thinned the mixture a bit with reduced sodium chicken broth, allowed to begin to simmer and floated Pillbury frozen biscuits on top until they were hot. It came out so yummy. We have had it several times since I discovered the recipe. Definitely try it!

Hot Apple Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I made this cider for Thanksgiving and it was a hit! Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. It was easy and really spiced up plain apple cider. I used medium amber pure maple syrup, which added a nice smoothness and sweetness. Five stars!

Shepherd's Pie VI

This recipe is great!!! I made a slight variation by adding a couple dashes of worcestershire sauce. I had never had shepherd's pie and my Irish husband asked me to try making it. He was impressed!
