I was an addict for 12 yrs. of my life, now I'm free from all substances for 8 years. My whole life has changed drastically. Not everyday is easy, but everyone has trials & tribulations in life. I enjoy life now, especially cooking for my family. It makes me feel great to hear people commenting about how good my food is.
I am married for almost 23 years (August 25th), and we have a 24 year old son. I have a cat and a dog, whom I adore, and we live in Philadelphia, PA. I guess cooking challenges me, and keeps me occupied. I love to get recipes from "all recipes" and make them for my family, if they like them I save them and make them again.
My favorite things to cook
I think my favorite things to cook would have to be Southern cooking. Even though I only moved here in 1992, I have learned a great deal from my Mother-in-law, and Grandmother-in-law. I love to fry chicken, make collard greens, mac n cheese, and cornbread. Awww yeah!!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I guess my favorite cooking traditions in on holidays, I love to bbq for Memorial Day, 4th of July; I love to bake cakes for birthdays; I love to fry turkey for Thansgiving, and baked a big ham for Christmas. Oh, and I love to make black-eyed peas for New Years' Day!
My cooking triumphs
I don't have too many triumphs as far as cooking, except for making my own gravy, and my Mom's scalloped potatoes with por chops right on top of the potatoes.
My cooking tragedies
OMG! I've had so many tragedies, but I learn so much from them -- I always come out ahead!
