About this Cook
I first started to experiment with baking around the age of 11, because I liked to eat what I baked!
My favorite things to cook
Thanksgiving dinner!! I plan weeks in advance and have an entire days worth of food -- from brunch options, cocktails, appetizers, the main meal and then desserts. I start preparation as early as the weekend before the holiday. But I am always rewarded for my efforts. I get rave reviews from family and now there are certainly many dishes that are "must have," or my children will be sad.
My cooking triumphs
Real buttercream frosting for cakes!
My cooking tragedies
Real buttercream frosting for cakes! I have certainly dumped several batches that curdled.

Fig and Arugula Salad
We really enjoyed this salad. It was very simple and easy to make. The combination of sweet from the honey and figs worked wonderfully with the bitterness from the arugula and the balsamic. I had never thought to use fresh figs in a salad before seeing this recipe. I am glad I tried it. I will definitely serve this recipe again!

Best Brownies
Not cakey not fudgy, but something in-between, and not to my family's liking. I'm going to try something else next time. These lacked the intense chocolate flavor I was seeking, and wasn't soft and gooey, which is the texture I prefer. We ate it with ice cream, to give it more moisture. (no, I did NOT overbake!)

Lisa's Co-op Kale Soup
Too spicy, and we usually like heat. The broth lacks flavor, like it needed more herbs and spices. I enjoyed using up my Kale, but I won't be making this again. No one was wow'd by it at all. (FYI--I did not make any changes to this recipe; everything was cooked as directed.)
