About this Cook
I have been cooking since I was 9 yrs old. My Dad says he can't tell the difference between my Moms cooking and mine. That's quite a compliment. My Mom is an awesome cook. I collect cookbooks, but more to get ideas. I also revamp recipes, rarely measure, except when something is really good and I want to pass it on. Then I'll be sure to get the measurements right.
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything. I can bake, but don't do it too often. It's too tedious. I love good old fashioned home cooking. But also have branched out over the years into Cuban, Italian, Chinese, Greek etc. I'm willing to try most any type of food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Home cooking. I come from Southeastern Ohio. Learned to cook from watching my Mom and both Grandmothers. It's the best tasting food in the world, just high in fat. But when in the mood for comfort food, this is where I go.
My cooking triumphs
I make a kick butt baked potato soup, and beef stroganoff
My cooking tragedies
Just ask my husband about "The" ham loaf. Arrrrrrggggggghhhhh. The dog wouldn't even eat it. LOL

All American Roast Beef
To those who want to add liquid to this recipe, you are not cooking a pot roast here. This is a rare to medium rare roast. Not only can you use the Eye of the round roast, but a Sirloin tip roast works well too. You can also do a standing rib roast in a similar manner. This is the type of roast to cook and slice up for sandwiches, or as listed with mashed potatoes and gravy. This is a great basic recipe. For a pot roast it will take a totally different cut and cook at lower temperatures with liquid for 4-5 hours.

Cottoneyed Peas
Finally a black eyed peas recipe with celery..This is the way I make them quickly (like for a week night dinner side). The peppers add just the right amount of KICK. Thanks a bunch!!
