About this Cook
I love to try new recipes. Even with my tried and true recipes I'm always on the look out to make it better. I love to browse recipes and come up with my own by using a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. My husband is my biggest fan. He works in a gourmet restaurant so he knows about good food. I made an artichoke appetizer yesterday morning before I went to work. Hubby rated it a 10!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake. I bake all the birthday cakes for my co-workers. I bake miniature banana chocolate chip muffins that I take to my church every Sunday. I go wild at Christmas time and make about 10 different kinds of cookies.I make up cookie platters and give them as gifts. My husband brought some to the restaurant where he works and they all thought that he ordered them form a gourmet bakery. I am always told that I should have my own bakery. I bake to relax, it is definitely a hobby.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian wedding soup for Christmas.Usually ravioli or lasagna too.I cook from scratch and use very little "prepared" food for the holidays.I make about a dozen pumpkin rolls for Christmas that I give out as gifts.I'm actually going to sale some this year.
My cooking triumphs
A triumph for me is making flaky delicious pie crust.I am a self taught baker because my mother is not a baker. The secret to pie crust is "just do it", just like exercise. Don't think about it , don't talk yourself out of it but do it.You can't get into fear because it can smell fear and it won't turn out right.
My cooking tragedies
Years ago I made rice pudding. I put way to much sugar , it was so sweet we had to throw it out. To this day I don't know how I made such a disaster out of that recipe. I don't think I've ever made rice pudding again after that.

I made this recipe last year for the very first time. It was absolutely outstanding! I've been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 26 years and was bored with the same old bird. This was flavorful and very moist. I followed the recipe exactly and it is awesome. Looking forward to making it again this year{six more days, but whose counting?}Yummy.
