Almond Cupcake with Salted Caramel Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
The cupcakes were divine when following the recipe as written! The frosting was good, but I had to do the caramel a little different because I was having some issues getting the cream to incorporate with it. Nothing that the blender on the liquefy setting couldn't take care of for me though. My only complaint is that apparently I did not make enough...because our dogs ate over half of them while they cooled on the racks! Little stinkers! However; the ones we did eat...were marvelous.

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Oh my, this was delicious! I will never again go out for Chinese again in search of Beef and Broccoli, when I know that I have this recipe to cook at home. Hands down, this was better than anything we've eaten in a restaurant.

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
This was just an okay recipe. We made it exactly as written and it was just missing something. Maybe next time I'll make some adjustments, but if I do that, then it won't be this recipe any longer. They were edible, but not the best we've ever had either.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I made this exactly as written, and as much as I was concerned about how thin the batter was, I did not change anything. As it turns out, this was by far the BEST cake I have ever tasted, much less made myself! It was moist and absolutely delicious!

French Silk Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I made this exactly as written and it was absolutely divine! I did increase the ingredients by half so as to have enough to frost the cake after reading some of the other reviews. I had just a little left over, but it was quickly devoured by my husband and daughter, who both sat in the floor like two small kids with a spoon in their hands and took turns taking bites of the leftovers. Excellent frosting with a truly wonderful taste!

Spicy Indian Chicken and Mango Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
The only reason this does not get 5 stars is because, as written, the recipe is very bland tasting. We love Indian food and love the spices, but I believe the puree was the culprit in drowning out the spiciness of this meal. It was mild, at best. Next time I will make some changes to the spice blend and hopefully it will make me rethink the one star I am not giving now.

Springfield Style Cashew Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
I made this for my husbands birthday as a surprise for him. He grew up in Springfield, MO, and everytime he goes back...this is the first meal he eats. It tasted EXACTLY like it should taste and he will ask for it now about once every week. I did have a little trouble with the cornstarch, but finally figured out the trick to it after calling a woman who lives in Springfield and makes it every week. By far...this is as close as you can get without having to go to Springfield!

Kati Rose's Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This was by far, the easiest and best tasting cheeseball I have ever made. I served it as an appetizer during Thanksgiving and my mother-in-law just thought I was the greatest because it was the first homemade cheese ball she had EVER eaten. I love her, but she doesn't cook..ever, and just buys everything already made from the grocery...including cheeseballs. It was a lot and I thought there would be some leftover, but I was so wrong. I've made it several times since and am always asked to bring it to get togethers now.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
There were no leftovers! My family can be extremely picky when it comes to some foods, especially greenbeans. This however; I cooked for Thanksgiving and just slid it between a few other food items and then passed it around. It cooked up nicely, didn't interfer with everything else because I didn't feel like I had to stand over it the whole time and was a big hit with everyone.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This was the recipe I've been searching for and finally found. Marvelous! The only problem I had was with my helper who didn't understand the concept of "mash" the bananas, not "liquify" the bananas. Even still, other than looking as if the bottom of the bread was wet, it was exactly what I've been longing for!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
It was really simple to make and while my husband loved it, I just thought it was very bland. Next time I'll add more spices to my liking. The upside was that even my kids liked it, and that is what counts here.

Apple Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
Being relatively new to baking of any sort, especially bread baking, I was surprised at how well this turned out. It was a very dense bread, which some may not like, but we loved! We sliced it up and put just a little spread of butter on it...it was heaven in a bite. My kids want to make this again this weekend. Thanks for the great recipe!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
Wow, was this delicious! My kids normally hate pork chops and these were so tender that they thought it was chicken and RAVED over how good it was! I didn't correct their assumption on the type of meat, they ate it, loved it and I was ecstatic. I only made a couple of small changes, one out of necessity and the other for personal taste reasons. Instead of using bread crumbs (because I didn't have any as I thought), I used stove top and just crushed it a little more for better consistency, and it gave it a really good flavor. As I was cooking the chops in the EVOO, I added some minced garlic for a little extra flavor and I doubled the sauce because my family are big "dipping" people. I can't tell you just how good this tasted and how easy it was to make. The sauce was divine and the chops were so tender you could eat it using a spoon if so desired!

Amish Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
I'll admit that I was concerned with the amount of brown sugar that this recipe called for, but as it turns out, it was a needless worry. My family did not think it was too sweet at all! It was so easy to prepare and held together really well after it was cooked. I did cook it a little longer than called for, about an hour and 20 minutes just because I had a gut feeling that one hour for that much meat was not going to be long enough and I am so glad I did that. It was super moist and done to perfection! My kids took it as leftovers for their school lunches the next day and then asked me to make more! This will be a new staple in our household from here on out.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
This was the very first time that I have EVER made any sort of bread and I have to say that it turned out delicious! I was a little concerned at one point, but simply because it was my first time. The directions were so simple and so easy to follow. Once we got it baked and allowed it to cool off, my husband immediately cut into it to "try it out". With this recipe, I won the Greatest Wife in the World award because I baked him bread..lol.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
I made this almost exactly as it was written. The only changes I made were using Cream of Chicken & Mushroom and I added some mushrooms with the chicken and cheese. I had no problem at all with crunchy stuffing and the entire family loved it! My youngest daughter said she wanted to take some leftovers for her school lunch and when she was informed that she was eating the last of it, she said "You can just cook more of this tomorrow!" Great recipe!

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
I loved how simple this was. The taste was good, it wasn't too dry..it was just perfect. The only thing that I added was I put crushed buttery crackers on top and then cooked it, just for some added crunch.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
This was my first attempt at ever making lasagna, compared to purchasing a frozen one at the store and cooking. Oh my goodness!! This was the most delicious lasagna we have ever tasted. My fiance who is home on leave right now from an overseas deployment is trying to figure out a way for me to have this shipped to him *laughing*. The cheese blend was just the best!!! This will now be a staple in our household!

Red River Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
My kids loved it and that is saying a lot! I used a little too much broth and it turned out a little too watery but, that was my mistake. It did not seem to take away from the flavor though. Thumbs up all around, this will definitely be made several more times!
