Iced Pumpkin Cookies
About this Cook
I'm a SAHM of three, and an army wife. I teach gymnastics to little ones part-time, and am a Taste of Home Field Editor. I'm also teaching the kids how to cook. They get to plan a menu, make out the shopping list, check to see which items we have at home, do price comparison shopping when they pick out their items, and make the meal with as little help as possible. They have done an awesome job so far!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Cookies, cakes, desserts. I also enjoy grilling, and making crock pot meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and grandma were huge into baking. I loved to sit in the kitchen on a Saturday afternoon learning their secrets and licking the beaters.
My cooking triumphs
Sending cookies to my husband in Iraq, and his buddies not believing they are homemade! They swore they HAD to be from a bakery :)
My cooking tragedies
My first Father's Day with my husband I made him brats and potato salad. Horrible, horrible potato salad. Potatoes were cooked far too long and I added too much mayo. It was mashed potatoes with mayo. I haven't attempted it since!

Easy Meatloaf
This is a good meatloaf, great for kids because it's on the sweet side. My mom has always made this recipe and now I make it for my family. It's very good with ground turkey, and I have to use 2 pounds to feed my family of 5. I use 1/2 cup ketchup and add half of the "topping" to the meatloaf mixture.

Peanut Butter Cake II
Made this for my husband's birthday. It was very good! After reading some reviews I added almost 3/4 cup peanut butter to the cake mix for that extra PB flavor. Also, once I poured the batter in to the pans I stuck some cut up Reese's Peanut Butter Cups all around, then called it "Peanut Butter Surprise Cake"! For the frosting I used Half & Half because I had some that needed to be used up. The frosting was light enough that I was able to use some coloring and make the cake "camo" colors since my hubby is in the army. Everyone loved this cake, especially my peanut butter loving husband!

Pinwheel Italian Calzones
I made cheese and pepperoni using mini peps for the kids, and then "supreme" style for me and hubby. Used refrigerated pizza dough instead of crescent roll dough because I'm not a big refrigerated crescent roll fan and saw the suggestion in another review. They ended up being bigger than "mini" sized and were a big full meal for all of us. Will make again!
