Hearty Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I really liked this since I didn't have to add cream of mushroom, which I hate and always try to substitute something else for it. I'm not really crazy about tuna casserole to begin with, but it is a favorite of my husband, so I thought why not try to make it more to my liking too then? Well even though I liked this version a lot better, he didn't, he didn't like the celery and onions in it at all. So I think next time I'll still use the mayo and sour cream, but just leave out the celery and onions!

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I was so excited to try this, but ended up a little disappointed. Although it was very easy to get together and the pork turned out perfectly and just fell apart, the taste just wasn't doing it for me. It was way too sweet for me, I was hoping for more of that smoky flavor. If I make this again I won't be adding any sugar, maybe more vinegar and maybe some liquid smoke to give it that pulled pork flavor.

Stuffed Jalapenos

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
My mom made these a lot when I was a kid, but she couldn't remember the exact recipe so I was glad to be able to find one on here. These were so good and tasted just like I remembered them. I did make a few changes to the recipe though. I used fresh jalapenos, regular sausage, and fine Italian breadcrumbs. The prep work is VERY tedious, cutting the peppers, getting the seeds out, trying to hold them and get the cheese inside them and then trying to hold it together to get the sausage around it, but it is all worth it. These were a big hit with my husband, who was very skeptical about them when I first told him. As weird as it may seem I don't eat the jalapenos, I just like the flavor they give the sausage, but being rolled up inside the sausage they cook perfectly! I will for sure be making these again!

Avocado Ranch Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I was so excited to try this as I was making southwestern eggrolls and thought this would be perfect to go along with them. There was just something about it that I didn't like. I love avocados, but the taste just seemed to be so overpowering you couldn't taste anything else. There was no ranch taste at all so I ended up mixing in a packet of hidden valley buttermilk ranch and that helped it a lot, but it was just too thick and didn't have the taste I was looking for.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I think these have the possibility to be very good, but next time I won't be adding so much jalapenos. I like spicy, but not so spicy that I can't taste what I'm eating and that's how these were. First of all I doubled the recipe because I was having just appetizers for dinner, so I wanted there to be plenty. Even in doubling the recipe I only added 1 additional tablespoon of jalapenos and diced them up very fine. The filling was fairly easy and quick to make, cutting up the chicken took the longest of course. I also used egg roll wrappers instead of tortillas like a lot of others had suggested. It was my first time cooking with wrappers so they got a little burnt in the oil and one was still frozen in the middle. I will make them again, just gonna tweak the recipe a little bit more.

Restaurant-Style Hashbrown Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
I loved this! At first I thought it wasn't going to be too good because of the cream of chicken, but you really can't even taste it. I'm a huge fan of hash brown casserole and this was great.

Almost Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
This was pretty good, I really liked the idea of the peppers being sliced up in it. I added a can of tomato paste and doubled the diced tomatoes, but it still was lacking in flavor a little. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was missing something. Overall it was pretty good though.

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
This was really good! I love chicken pot pies usually, but hate those big frozen peas and half the time the carrots never get done, so I thought this would be great to try. I changed it up a little though. using only 5 potatoes, I felt 10 would be a little over kill. I used 3 regular cans of cream of chicken and one of celery, I also added just a little chicken broth. I didn't add any bouillon cubes at all after reading the other reviews about it being too salty. I also didn't use frozen veggies, I used can peas and corn. I didn't waste time cutting the chicken up either, I put in 3 whole frozen breasts and let it cook on low for about 8 hours. I served mine over biscuits and it was a hit!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
This green bean casserole was great! I have always loved green bean casserole, but not the cream of mushroom soup, so this was perfect. The only thing I changed up was I still used the french's onions in it and on top of it, I'm not too crazy about cracker toppings.

Alice Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
My husband, mother, and myself loved this recipe. We're not big fans of crunchy bacon, so I wrapped the chicken with the bacon and then cooked it. I took a casserole dish put my chicken in it, added salt, pepper, a little garlic powder, and some minced onions. Then wrapped it with the bacon and poured Worcestershire sauce over it. Covered it with aluminum foil and baked it for 45 minutes on 350. Then added the cheese and let it melt. I left out the mushrooms because I don't like them. All in all this was a pretty good recipe.

Broccoli Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This was the best recipe for Broccoli casserole! I made it for Thanksgiving last year and it was delicious! I doubled everything so I could make more and we ate the whole thing.

Chicken Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
This recipe was pretty good. If I make it again instead of pecans I'm going to add almond slivers and also a little bell pepper. I was hoping it would be a little bit more like my grandmother's home made dressing, but it was still pretty good regardless.
