Cola Pot Roast I

I don't know what is wrong with this recipe---I followed the instructions exactly except used crushed garlic instead of garlic salt. Not only was the meat tough, but the broth had a funny aftertaste. I'm trying to salvage the roast---rinsed it off, dumped the juices and will use just beef broth for the base and season to my taste.

Marinated Flank Steak

Wow! What a disappointment!! I had planned to grill the flank steak when my son and daughter-in-law came for the weekend. They ended up postponing their visit, so I made a practice run in order to use the steak. I'm sooo thankful I found out this is inedible before serving it to them. Not only was the steak tough, but it tasted so vinegary that I went back and checked the recipe to be sure I'd not added too much. I had followed the recipe exactly as written, but, even after trying to "fix" it the next day in a crock pot with a packet of slow cooker beef seasoning, I still could not eat it.

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

I cut the ingredients down to grill one pork chop and it was wonderful!! I'm thinking about mixing up the dry ingredients and storing in a jar so that I need only add the Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke when I'm ready for the rub.

Pineapple Cheese Ball

I love this cheese ball, the recipe I've used for years used the tablespoon of seasoned salt. I think this is an important ingredient. Also, didn't add celery, but I suppose it might add a little more "crunch". I would tell my co-workers not to bring me a birthday cake---just make me this cheese ball and put a candle on it! I drained the pineapple thoroughly, even put it between layers of paper towels and squeezed out the liquid. Otherwise I ended up with a cheese "flat".

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

I made chili yesterday to take to a friend and thought cornbread would be a great "go-with" Tried your recipe, and OMG!! I've never tasted cornbread this good. Actually, I forgot about having chili for my supper and just ate the cornbread---I couldn't stop. My friend, who was born and raised in Alabama tells me she loves sweet cornbread, so, yes, some true southerners enjoy our Yankee version.
