Creamy Apple Cinnamon Walnut Oatmeal
About this Cook
I am a very lucky young lady to have married my high school sweetheart this year (2007). While we try to balance out new schedules and new jobs we've both been tackling new recipes that allow us to maximize the evening hours. I've been using AllRecipes for a long time as a non-user - but being able to pull the laptop into the kitchen and work from the "Recipe Box" is proving to be a great addition to my arsenal of kitchen tools.
My favorite things to cook
Trying new rubs for a variety of cuts of steaks & chicken Gingerbread Men & Houses(A True Holiday Tradition
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's mother was a fabulous cook and a Mennonite born in Russia. Making rolkuchen with her at large family reunions and during summer vacations spent in her home will stay with me for a long time. Her Easter Bread we used to bake in large Folger's tins continues to endure.
My cooking triumphs
Gingerbread men. Hands down.
My cooking tragedies
I've had various disasters with burnt rice on various apartments electric stove elements. Although I really nail it from time to time.

Peppy's Pita Bread
I was shocked when my batch turned out. Not because the recipe was inadequate - but because I have little to no faith in any bread recipe the first time I try it. They turned out wonderfully. It was like pita magic in my oven. Oh yeah, and they were delicious.

Creamy Apple Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal
I made changes as well after reading other reviews. I added one more teaspoon of brown sugar, one more tablespoon of maple syrup, was very generous when I shook in the cinnamon and a tiny bit of salt. I threw in about 1/2 teaspoon of butter and substituted 1/2 cup water for milk. I toasted some walnuts while the water was boiling because I don't like raisins and topped it with cream as well as blueberries (you can never add too much fruit). The base recipe was very good and the other suggestions were helpful. I feel that adding toasted walnuts made this a 4 star breakfast for myself and my husband.

Easy Mexican Casserole
My household contains only my husband and myself - so we got to enjoy the leftovers. We both happily ate it for lunches and had to negotiate over the last serving. This is definitely a new favorite recipe.
