Pumpkin Pie Spice II

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2014
I always make seasonal "spices" like this (that require a combination of spices) myself. That way I only have what I need on hand and I'm not buying something I technically already have. Thanks for the recipe.

MMMmmmm! This pie was delicious :) Thank you for a great recipe. Very sweet...but then again, that's what desserts should be!

Slow Cooker Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2014
I absolutely loved this recipe! I've been looking for a good homemade baked beans recipe, and I finally found it!! I have a limited "convenience food" diet because of an allergy to artificial colorings...and EVERY can of baked beans has caramel coloring in it. I did not use any ham or bacon in the recipe as I wanted them to be MSG-free...so I did salt them to make up for that difference. I also soaked the beans overnight in water as another reviewer recommended to avoid boiling them, which also made these quicker to make! And for the maple syrup, I used half blue agave syrup, half real maple syrup that we always buy in northern Michigan. Mmmmmm!!! I first made them last Saturday and I've already been asked to make them again this weekend. Thanks for a great recipe!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
I absolutely love this. It's beyond me why it never occurred to me to make my own my sloppy joes instead of get it out of the can. This is so easy so that it would be silly to ever make it out of a can again!! It's also a recipe you can play with and make your own - my hubby's a big hunter so I never buy ground beef...we always have PLENTY of ground venison on hand, so that's what I always use. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2013
I can't give it a 5 b/c I didn't follow exactly...but these were delicious! I realized too late that I didn't have enough butter...so I used half butter and the other 1 part canola oil, 1 part peanut butter. They tasted delicious, though!!! Thanks for a good recipe!!!

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
If I hadn't changed the main components of the ice cream, I'd rate it a 5! But...I used half & half instead of cream which gave it more of a frozen yogurt texture. I absolutely LOVED this recipe, but I will admit it's hard to go wrong with mint chocolate chip. As others recommended, I doubled the peppermint extract...but no food coloring for my family. I will absolutely make this again!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2013
This tasted pretty good...but as written, a three-star is about all I can give here. I made it as written (as I usually like to do the first time...because you can't really review a recipe if you change it). This made only 8 pieces for me, and not 12. I also think it could use some more cinnamon and maybe some more vanilla. I will probably make this again and make those changes and plan for only 8 pieces...because after wiping off the excess mixture and still not getting the number I expected, I was disappointed.

Tuna Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Great recipe! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used homemade italian dressing instead of store-bought. My mayonnaise was Hellman's Light. Next time I make it, I will likely add more celery, but as written this is delicious! Hubby and I both loved it.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
I made this for our family's Christmas gathering (sometimes we like to be untraditional!) and it was a huge hit. I tried 2 grocery stores but did not find any key limes, so I ended up using regular limes and reduced-fat sweetened condensed milk. I also made my own graham cracker crust. This was really very good and I'm sure I'll make it again.

Groovy Green Smoothie

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2012
I loved this - my first green smoothie and it was delicious! I only rated it a 4 b/c I made so many changes from the recipe. I used 1/2 banana instead of whole, almond milk in place of yogurt, and added a plum b/c it needed to be eaten soon! This was very good!

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
This was a great recipe to make in a large quantity (I made 20 servings), but the end result was really kinda bland. I would think though that if I used a sweeter mayo, such as Hellman's Mayonnaise, it may have had a better result. I used Kraft Mayonnaise with Olive Oil, which I normally prefer...but it just doesn't have the same taste sometimes. I ended up adding a lot of celery seed just to sweeten it up some, and I was much more happy with it after that.

Salmon Steaks with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I used fresh caught salmon and that was good...but the recipe for the sauce uses WAY too much milk. We enjoyed the flavor, but I can't rate this recipe 5 stars if following the recipe exactly gives you less than desirable results. I think next time I'll at least cut that in half, but I am keeping this recipe for future use.

White Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
I can't rate this a 5 because I changed one of the main ingredients...but these were DELICIOUS! I used peanut butter chips instead of white chocolate chips. I LOVE these chips (I could eat them by themself all day long!) and adding them to this recipe made it perfect! Thanks for a great recipe! :)

Citrus Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
I actually thought these were kind of gross. I'm not sure why mine seemed to turn out so much differently than the other reviewers because this has been rated pretty favorably. I followed the recipe exactly and they cooked for just the right amount of time...but the flavor was just not what I was expecting from a chocolate cupcake.

Fire-Roasted Tomato and Spinach Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
Delicious! I noticed that in many of the reviews people were adding spices to make it more flavorful...and in some hotter! I never use fire roasted tomatoes, and these were HOT! Or maybe it was the hot red pepper flakes I put on it :) Either way, very good recipe and my only change was to add an onion. Very good!

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
I followed this recipe to the T...but I still wasn't a huge fan. I saved this sometime last year to try when the season chili came back around...but I really didn't like it. I found myself digging for the sour cream because that's what gave it it's flavor. Without the sour cream, it was pretty bland, which was a waste of my fresh ingredients. I won't be making this again.

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
LOVED THESE! We felt like we were eating at Panera Bread but sitting at our own kitchen table! I couldn't find Focaccia bread in the grocery store, so I bought an italian loaf and just sliced it into sandwich size to grill. I also topped the veggies with southwest seasoning and put them in foil so they didn't fall through the grill. Either way, this will definitely be a regular in our house now! Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Barbecue Ham Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
I can't give this a five because I changed it so much! But with my alterations...i give it a 5! I was looking for a quicker recipe, so I used refrigerated pizza dough instead. The bbq sauce I used was raspberry chipotle, and I just put however much I wanted rather than sticking with any measurements. Lastly, the cheese I used was Fontina (it was on sale!) instead of Gouda, still mixed with the mozzarella cheese. With all of these alterations...it was magnificent!! Will definitely make again :)

Bountiful Garden Zucchini Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2010
With my modifications, 5 stars. I don't use tomatoes but cover them in salsa instead. Because I have the liquid from the salsa, I also don't add the milk into the sauce mixture. It comes out very thick - but I just mix all of that into the zucchini mixture and it tastes wonderful when it comes out of the oven!
