Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Tremendous! I added a splash of soy sauce and marinated the salmon in the glaze for an hour before cooking. Also added a touch of dill. A fantastic way to boost salmon into the realm of OMG I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS IS!

Spicy Vegan Potato Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Better than chicken! I just threw a whole buncha stuff in there that I wanted to use: potatoes, chick peas, green peas, carrots. Then I increased the spices because of all the extra shtuff. I think I'm in Delhi.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

I don't hand out five-star ratings for everything but this recipe deserves it, hands down. One of the best soups I ever made. I didn't think it had too much dill at all, just the right amount in fact. I floated a thin slice of lemon on top before serving. This soup got rave reviews all the way around the dinner table. I'll definitely make it again.

Most alfredo comes much as expected: unsurprising, but rarely rejected. But this one? Ho, ho! The zucchini is sooo close to flawless it's nearly perfected.

Love! I actually used a bit more vodka than the recipe calls for, I like it when the taste really comes through.

Bifana

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Fantabulous recipe! I just cooked it tonight for the first time and it got raves all the way around the table. A few alterations I made: I prefer to cook the tenderloin to 140 degrees instead of 155, it's a safe temperature and so much more succulent that way. Before I cook the pork I soak it in a Ziploc for an hour in six cups of water with 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup table salt. Instead of rhubarb, I used fresh cranberries in the chutney. And I paired the tenderloin with mango couscous, and a bowl of pan-fried bok choy and collard greens in a coconut-milk cream sauce. Holy Mahoney it was good!

Macadamia-Crusted Sea Bass with Mango Cream Sauce

Macadamia nuts are ambitious. Just try to name a legume as delicious. Cashews, almonds, pecans? Please, I just washed my hands. This meal makes me want to sleep with the fishes.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
This is a four-star dish, but because I don't really like carrots and I do like this quite a bit, it gets an extra star for overcoming the relative heinousness of carrot.

Mayan Couscous

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
Definitely a five-star dish and maybe the best couscous recipe I've ever tasted. HOWEVER, a warning for those who don't know what beans can be toxic if undercooked. (Am I the only one who didn't know this?) Instead of canned black beans I decided to cook dry white beans from scratch because I had them. I undercooked them -- boiled them for five minutes, then let them sit in the hot water for about two hours. I knew they were undercooked because they were a bit crunchy, but they tasted okay. About an hour after we ate, both my boyfriend and I came down with stomach cramps and some serious gas. We felt horrible for about eight hours. After a little Googling I learned that kidney shaped beans can be toxic and, in rare cases, fatal if undercooked. Moral of the story? You learn something new every day.uncontrollably.

Carrot, Potato, and Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
A upbeat, clarifying soup that helps elevate a chest cold up to your sinuses so you can blow some of it out. I ate this with piles of electric blanket across my lap, set at medium-high heat. Vegetable broth replaced the chicken stock, and I doubled the spices, and declined to blend. Overall, similar to many soups on this website, but none the worse for it. Well done.
