I am adventurous in the kitchen but not necessarily talented. I'll try almost anything at least once, but as my husband is a bit picky, he ends up cooking for us most of the time.
My favorite things to cook
I love slow-cooker recipes because I can start them before I go to work and come home to a cooked meal. I love any recipe with lots of vegetables and I love cheese. My husband will not eat cheese or anything with a cream base, so that rules out half of the things I like to cook. Before I got married, the closest I came to cooking was a green bean casserole! I love to bake; I'm better at baking than cooking, for some reason.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, my father made the best chocolate-chip pancakes known to man! He made them from scratch. Also, making a huge batch of beef vegetable soup and letting it simmer all day on the stove was something our family always did on cold winter days.
My cooking triumphs
Not too many triumphs so far. I'm working on that one. I think my BBQ pork is pretty dang awesome, as well as my guacamole.
My cooking tragedies
I made pumpkin chocolate-chip cookies that were so sticky and gooey that they had to be thrown out. Mostly I was really sad about wasting good chocolate.
