About this Cook
single mom, cat owner, musician, shoe fanatic, old school music fan, movie cry-baby,starting Life Part II
My favorite things to cook
Fried chicken (Paula Deen's recipe is my favorite), pot roast, beer burgers, meatloaf, shrimp & grits (daughter's favorite), chocolate crown cake, bourbon fruitcake(dad's favorite), breakfast steak and gravy (mom's favorite),7 flavor pound cake (pastor's favorite), Acadian Shrimp (sister's favorite)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother, grandmother and aunt were fabulous cooks. Mother was known for her fabulous cakes and grandma and aunt should have had a cooking show and restaurant. In their tradition I try to be nearly as good (will never be AS good) as they were. Also, chitterling were always present at Thanksgiving. Because they're all passed on now, I'm making my own this year.
My cooking triumphs
Having 2 recipes published in a local cookbook this year.
My cooking tragedies
A chicken and dumplings recipe that looked like something the cat threw up!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
Just what I'm looking for! I'm not cooking a big turkey for T'giving and I'm going to make this on my indoor rotissirie. I'm cutting the salt back to 1 tsp to reduce sodium intake and I'm using 1 chicken. Looking forward to this!

Easy Baked Ham
I made this for Christmas and it was very good. I combined the brown sugar, pineapple juice and ginger ale before pouring over the ham and basted every 30 minutes. I also used a butt portion ham and Bleinheim's Ginger Ale. Will be using this again at Easter. I wonder how it would work on the grill and use the juice mixture as a basting sauce?

Southern Style Pig Tails
I've never had pig tails before.I see them in the store and a friend makes Stone Stew and includes them along with some other "stuff". I think I'll have these along with my blackeyes and collards for New Year's Day. Keryne, you're a true Nubian Soul with your recipes. Keep them coming!
