Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2015
No cream, just 1% milk. Added the onions, carrots, celery and sautéed ham instead.

Ham Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
I used 3/4 c. brown sugar and regular white vinegar. Just my preference--I'm sure it would be great sweeter too.

Fresh Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I didn't change a thing--it was perfect! I used a store-bought crust package and it was perfectly baked. I think using the bottom rack and lowering the temp after fifteen minutes was just the ticket. I did not cover the edges with foil like the boxed directions said--just followed your recipe! So easy! My new favorite pie! Thanks so much!

Easy Homemade Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
This recipe reminds me of the artisan bread in five minutes a day recipe I found on the NY Times website. The bread recipe is made in an ice cream bucket and does not have olive oil, otherwise it is a similar recipe and my favorite bread EVER!

Caramelize the onions! You'll be glad you took the extra time!

Rhubarb Dream Bars

WONDERFUL. I added a little less sugar--just my preference! My rhubarb-haters reluctantly tasted it and loved it too!

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2010
I baked at 350 for 10 minutes, then broiled for five minutes like some of the reviewers said... Awesome! I didn't have bread crumbs, so I pounded up some Cesar-flavored croutons--which I left in bigger chunks like one of my favorite restaurants does--even better than the restaurant version. I served it with white rice, fresh asparagus, and French bread...

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
I never knew about mixing the eggs and cheese together and removing the spaghetti from the heat, I am so thankful for the advice I read in the reviews. This was delicious--not scrambled eggy like the other times I made it... I used whole wheat pasta that I had leftover in the fridge, so it was pretty quick too.

Buster Bar Ice Cream Dessert

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Very good! I made it in two springform pans, and it was beautiful. One of my boys does not like nuts "in" recipes, so accommodating his "food mixing" issue was my only adaptation.

Pot Stickers Traditional

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Very good. I read many recipes where people said to pan saute in some sort of oil/butter, then add water and steam--covered. I will try that next time, but only because I am too impatient. Also, these refrigerate well after the boiling stage. Much quicker to saute then...

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I had apple juice, so I used it instead of the water. WOW! I have made this twice in the last three days and am making it again today--I think I will make more topping this time.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

My female child made this for breakfast this morning--she doubled the topping ingredients and baked it in about an 11" X 15" pan--delicious!

Use chopped tomatoes and lean ground beef. You won't regret spending the time it takes to make this recipe.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
My house smelled so good!!! I used very lean organic ground beef and diced tomatoes instead of whole ones the second time I made this, which just seemed like less fuss to me... I did use an immersion blender to smooth out the sauce a bit before adding the meatballs.

Heck, I didn't change anything about this recipe--but folks had some great ideas. It is fabulous, and a great treat! Thanks.

Ice Cream Sticky Buns

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
I added cinnamon and decreased the amount of sugars a bit, I think I could have even used less... Maybe three- quarters cup total next time at most. I melted the ice cream and margarine in the microwave in the glass baking pan the bread dough was thawed in, then added the sugars and cinnamon. My boys really enjoyed this, and I think it could easily be adapted to use canned dough if you want.

Spicy Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
My best friend has a similar recipe, so I thought I would try this one. My family loves spicy food, so I added a bit extra cayenne pepper, and I also baked it in the oven like I do with cereal party mix. I had pretzel braids and little pretzel balls, looks very festive... My boys love it.
