Recipe book fanatic, single mom, culinary school dropout, who desires to open a little cafe/ restaurant in the days ahead. I have begun teaching cooking classes for Kids through continuing ed and am working on creating a kids cooking curriculum.
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast Food is always fun! I get a kick out of making the first meal of the day into a feast. Homestyle potatoes, crispy and warm from the oven, and breakfast burritos with lots of green chile, eggs, and spicy sausage wrapped up with homemade salsa and sourcream is a favorite for everyone!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Jewish Holidays . Cooking with my mom learning all the traditional recipes passed down from my grandma and great grandma. My daughter and I spending hours in the kitchen preparing elaborate menus for the High Holidays. Teaching my daughter how to cook has been a tradition that has been passed down through the years!
My cooking triumphs
Working with my friend to help develop some gourmet frozen meals for people on the go. Feeding a group of hungry friends who came by one afternoon, and making a great spread with whatever we could find in the refrigerator . A culinary masterpiece of Asian delights orchestrated by me and some friends one evening over several bottles of wine! It turned out fabulous, but talk about WORK!
My cooking tragedies
Forgetting to put sugar in the zucchini bread! That was a disaster!
Baking is not my forte! I did it for years, but now I leave that part up to my 12 year old daughter.
