Cranberry Chicken II

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2013
I tried this recipe a few nights ago. I think it is a variation on another recipe which I have been using for several years and I got it also from All Recipes (Apricot Chicken). It is different in that Cranberry sauce and French Dressing are used with onion soup mix and the Apricot Chicken has Russian Dressing and Apricot preserves with the onion soup mix. Both are great recipes. Different taste and just as enjoyable either way. I adjusted for two servings. The only comment I have is that as with the Apricot Chicken, I just baked for 20 minutes. I think an hour would have made the chicken tough. I also pounded the chicken some for assured tenderness. It was just right. It's nice to have these sauces for chicken, especially when using skinless, boneless chicken breast as it can be dry without a sauce. Thanks again for giving me another standard chicken recipe.

Dinah's Baked Scallops

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN EASY AND VERY DELICIOUS SCALLOP RECIPE. I DIDN'T HAVE WHITE WINE ON HAND SO DIDN'T INCLUDE IT, BUT I DON'T THINK IT MATTERED AT ALL BECAUSE THE TASTE THAT THIS MEAL GETS IS MOSTLY FROM THE LEMON-BUTTER SAUCE AND THE BUTTERY CRACKERS THAT YOU PRESS THEM INTO. I HAVE MADE THEM TWICE AND TONIGHT I AM GOING TO MAKE THEM AGAIN. THEY ARE SO GOOD. I HAVE MADE SCALLOPS FROM OTHER SUBMISSIONS TO ALL RECIPIES, BUT THEY WERE SAUTEED AND I THINK THESE BAKED SCALLOPS ARE SO MUCH BETTER. I DIDN'T CHANGE ONE THING, EXCEPT OMITTING THE WHITE WINE AND I THINK IT WAS JUST AWSOME. THANKS FOR THE TREAT.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
I THINK THIS IS A DELICIOUS SAUCE TO SERVE OVER CHICKEN, WHICH NEEDS A SAUCE BECAUSE CHICKEN WHITE MEAT CAN SOMETIMES BE DRY. I USED CHICKEN CUTLETS BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE TENDER AND DON'T TAKE AS LONG TO COOK. IT MADE ENOUGH SAUCE TO PUT OVER RICE OR NOODLES. I JUST SERVED MY HUSBAND AND I, AND IT ALLOWED ME TO HAVE PLENTY OF SAUCE TO HEAT UP FOR THE NEXT NIGHT. THE SAUCE IS SO GOOD THAT THE SECOND TIME I MADE IT, I NEGLECTED TO BUY THE PIMENTO PEPPERS AND I MADE IT WITHOUT THEM AND IT WAS STILL A TASTY SAUCE. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS 5 STAR RECIPE.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
I HAD THIS FOR BREAKFAST YESTERDAY. I CALCULATED IT FOR 4 BECAUSE IT WAS JUST MY HUSBAND AND I. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE SOME LEFTOVER THAT I COULD WARM UP. HOWEVER MY HUSBAND LIKED IT SO MUCH HE HAD SECONDS AND THAT WAS IT. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. FOLLOWED THE RECIPE ALL THE WAY EXCEPT I DOTTED THE TOP WITH BUTTER INSTEAD OF MARGARINE. I USED PEPPERIDGE FARM WHITE BREAD BECAUSE I LIKE ALL THEIR BREAD PRODUCTS. IT WAS OUTSTANDING. THANK YOU SO MUCH. WILL BE SURE TO MAKE IT AGAIN. Peggy

Tomato Spinach and Basil Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
I just made this soup today. It was very easy and a tasty tomato soup. My husband likes Tomato soup although I have never really been fond of it myself. The only comment I would like to make is that it was not as creamy as I thought it would be and that may be because I was using 2% milk. I think the next time I will try half and half. We are going to have it again tomorrow with Challa bread. Thanks for the experience.

Halibut Divine

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2006
I had this dish last night. It was very easy to prepare and the taste was very good. I do intend to have it again, however I think the next time I will not put as much dry mustard in the recipe. It made the taste too spicy. Halibut is a very flavorful fish on its own and if it has too much spicy taste, it takes away from the true taste of the fish. I concur with the reviews that I read that said not to use the amount of dry mustard that was in the instructions but I didn't know if that would take away from the flavor. NOW I AM A BELIEVER. That's why it is so nice to be able to read opinions of people who have already tried the recipes.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2006
This was very tasty. I served it last night when I had my daughter and her son for dinner. Very easy to do. The only suggestion I would add is that the directions specify a 2 quart casserole. However I found that a 2 quart casserole would not hold the quantity after everything is put together. Would recommend changing instructions to read layering everything in a rectangular baking dish. I had to use (2) 2qt. casseroles because there was so much. Real comfort food. Thanks.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
THIS WAS A DELICIOUS WAY TO HAVE PORK CHOPS. I DON'T USUALLY HAVE PORK CHOPS BECAUSE THEY TEND TO BE TOUGH. THIS RECIPE PROVIDED VERY TENDER AND SUCCULENT PORK CHOPS. MAYBE THE LENGTH OF TIME THEY ARE BAKED HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. THE SAUCE WAS DELICIOUS. I DID ADD A COUPLE OF TEASPOONS OF SOUR CREAM BECAUSE I THINK IT'S A FLAVOR ENHANCER. DEFINITELY ON MY LIST OF REPEATS. A 5 STAR MEAL FOR SURE. THANKS FOR THE EXPERIENCE.

Alternative Baked Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
THIS WAS A VERY TASTY WAY TO SERVE SALMON AND VERY EASY TO DO. I DIDN'T HAVE SEASONED BREAD CRUMBS ON HAND SO I USED PLAIN BREAD CRUMBS AND IT WAS VERY GOOD. THE TOPPING HAS SOME SEASONING IN IT ALREADY WITH THE ONIONS & MINCED GARLIC. I WILL DEFINITELY HAVE IT AGAIN. THANKS.

Marzetti® Coconut Breaded Chicken with Crunchy Fruit Sauce

Outstanding - Well worth 5 stars. Easy to make and the sauce is delicious. Without the sauce it's just Chicken nuggets. Will make this one many times. Thanks for the experience.

Raspberry Tilapia

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
I had this Tilapia recipe this evening and it was a delicious experience. I think the next time I will use just a little salt and pepper on the fish before pouring the Raspberry sauce over it. The sauce is deliciously delicate and it also mixed well with the Rice Pilaf that I served along with it. THANK YOU DARLENE. I will be making this again --- soon.

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
FIRST, I WANT TO SAY THE CAKE WAS DELICIOUS, WHEN IT FINALLY WAS DONE. I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER AND AFTER 35 MIN. IN THE OVEN I TOOK IT OUT BECAUSE A CAKE TESTER CAME OUT CLEAN. HOWEVER WHEN I HAD ALLOWED THE CAKE TO COOL ENOUGH TO TAKE OUT OF THE PAN, IT FELL IN THE MIDDLE. I HAD TO PUT IT BACK IN THE OVEN ON THE PLATE THAT I HAD TURNED IT ON TO. I HAD TO BAKE IT FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 20 MINUTES TO BRING IT TO A COMPLETE BAKED CONSISTENCY. I NOTE OTHER REVIEWERS ALSO HAD TO GO LONGER. I THINK THE ORIG. RECIPE SHOULD BE CHANGED IN THE TIME OF BAKING. WE DID ENJOY THE FINISHED PRODUCT AND I WOULD MAKE IT AGAIN BUT I AM GOING TO MAKE A NOTE ON THE RECIPE TO COOK IT LONGER THAN 30 - 35 MIN.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
THIS WAS A VERY GOOD CHANGE FROM THE TRADITIONAL CASSEROLE. I SERVED IT AT THANKSGIVING AND EVERYONE ENJOYED IT. AFTER READING SOME OF THE REVIEWS, I DECIDED TO USE FROZEN FRENCH STYLE GREEN BEANS AND I COOKED THEM JUST A LITTLE BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN THE CASSEROLE. I ALSO ONLY USED 1 CUP OF SHREDDED CHEESE BECAUSE I THOUGHT 2 CUPS WOULD BE TOO CHEESY A FLAVOR... VERY TASTY. THANKS FOR THE EXPERIENCE.

Asparagus Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. THIS WAS A DELICIOUS RECIPE AND A BIG HIT WITH MY FAMILY. THE FIRST TIME I MADE IT WAS FOR THANKSGIVING A YEAR AGO AND EVERYBODY JUST LOVED IT. HOWEVER MY DAUGHTER -IN- LAW IS A STRICT VEGETARIAN AND THEREFORE DID NOT EAT IT BECAUSE IT HAD SHRIMP IN IT. EVERYBODY ELSE SAID IT WAS SO GOOD, IT WOULD BE JUST AS TASTY WITHOUT THE SHRIMP. SO THIS THANKSGIVING, I MADE IT AGAIN WITHOUT THE SHRIMP AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS A HIT AGAIN -- UNANIMOUSLY. THANK YOU ERIN FOR SHARIN.

Ham and Pineapple Dinner

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2003
THIS WAS VERY TASTY. I USED THE SMOKED BUTT OF HAM THAT I HAD THE PREVIOUS DAY. THIS IS A HAM THAT YOU SIMMER IN WATER AND COMES IN A CASING. I THINK IT IS PERFECT FOR THIS LEFTOVER MEAL BECAUSE THE HAM IS SO EASY TO CUT INTO CUBES BECAUSE IT IS A THICKER PIECE WHEN YOU SLICE IT DOWN. I REMOVED THE THIN SKIN AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SLICES BEFORE CUTTING THEM INTO CUBES. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT IS I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE ENOUGH PINEAPPLE JUICE WHEN I DRAINED THE CHUNKS; BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE SO I HAD TO DROP DOWN ON SOME OF THE OTHER INGREDIENTS AND I DID NOT HAVE AS MUCH SAUCE AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED BUT IT WAS A DELICIOUS SAUCE. THE NEXT TIME I MAKE IT I WILL HAVE SOME PINEAPPLE JUICE ON HAND SO THAT I CAN MAKE IT ACCORDING TO THE ORIG. RECIPE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GREAT WAY TO USE LEFTOVER HAM.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2003
THIS WAS A DELICIOUS TASTING QUICHE. I DID HAVE SOME DIFFICULTY BECAUSE I THINK THE INCREDIENTS SHOULD BE CHANGED TO READ ONE CUP OF LIGHT CREAM. I JUST MADE THIS FOR THE SECOND TIME AND AGAIN FOUND THAT I HAD TOO MUCH LIQUID FOR THE 9" PIE SHELL. I DON'T THINK IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE DEPTH OF THE PIE SHELL, AS I ORIGINALLY WROTE. ONCE AGAIN I HAD TO DO A LOT OF MOPPING UP AND ENDED UP THROWING OUT A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE EGG MILK MIXTURE. I DID A LOT OF MOPPING UP WHEN TRYING TO CARRY IT TO THE OVEN BECAUSE OF SPILLAGE. I HAD TO PUT THE PIE SHELL ON A COOKIE SHEET TO ENABLE ME TO GET IT INTO THE OVEN AND IT SPILLED ON THE COOKIE SHEET ALSO. I THINK I LEARNED FROM THIS TO USE MAYBE A 12" PIE PAN OR MAYBE ALL RECIPES SHOULD THINK ABOUT REVISING THE DIRECTIONS TO LESS LIGHT CREAM SO WE ALL WON'T HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS RECIPE. EVEN WITH ALL THE DIFFICULTY THE QUICHE WAS VERY TASTY,HOWEVER TOO MUCH MESS. THIS CAN BE RESOLVED. THANKS SO MUCH.....

Sweet and Sour Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2002
THIS MEATLOAF WAS QUITE TASTY. I USUALLY MAKE A MEATLOAF THAT HAS BEEN AROUND THE FAMILY MANY TIMES AND IT IS ALSO GOOD. BUT THIS WAS A NICE VARIATION AND THE SAUCE IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD ENJOY THE MEATLOAF AS WELL IF NOT FOR THE SAUCE. NICE CHANGE OF PACE. THANKS.
