Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2001
All I can say is YUM! These are so excellent I;ll never reveal how many I ate right in a row. (I made them without the water in the recipe and liked them better, though...more syrupy.)

Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2001
These were SO good! A huge hit. They are kind of time consuming to make, but worth it to make a big smash. I didn't have kids eat them...but my guess would be that there would be too much going on in them for kids to like 'em. Red peppers added just enough extra kick! Yum!!!!!

Gordo's Good Venison

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2005
DEEE-licious! This should be Gordo's Great Venison. Made it with venison chops and sirlion tips, baked in the oven, not grilled. YUM! Trying it again this weekend, marinated longer (we only had about an hour and a half to marinate) and on the grill. Excellent recipe - you could trick people who think they don't like deer with this recipe.

Stir-Fried Chicken With Pineapple and Peppers

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
I have been making this recipe for years. One of my family's favorites from the site! I have never had the mirin to make it. I usually throw in some wine and a little brown sugar. LOVE it. I make twice the amount of sauce because its delicious over the rice. I always serve with rice pilaf.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Used this frosting on the Coconut Poke Cake from this site, which I made using the Simple White Cake recipe also from this site. It was a hit! I used my Kitchen Aid Mixer. I did NOT use confectionary sugar like one user said (duh) we should all know is what the author meant. I actually am quite sure the poster meant white sugar just like he or she indicated...I have several other frosting mixes that are excellent and use white sugar. You do have to beat it well and it helps to have the stand mixer. I whipped the heavy cream separately from the cream cheese (used regular cream cheese) sugar and flavorings (I used 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp coconut for the coconut cake) and then beat them together for just a few seconds. Delicious. Really, really light and perfect for the cononut cake I used it on.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2013
Made this last night. Delicious! I used thick breasts and it did take almost the full hour. They were perfectly juicy and delicious! We LOVED the sauce. We don't look soy sauce, so we substituted with Trader Joe's balsamic vinegar, and I added crushed red pepper. At the suggestion of another reviewer, substituted water with about 1/2 cup of pineapple juice. Will definitely make this again!

Grilled Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
Made this tonight, exactly as it is here, after a quick "grilled" search. Very good! It takes a lot to sway my husband and I away from our homemade bbq chicken on the grill, but I will definitely make this for us again.
