Ihave a wonderful husband and am the mother of 2 beautiful girls who also love to cook! I am polish and love to learn the "old recipes" my grandmother makes for us! And my children also get to experience their GREAT grandmother cooking with them!! I work full-time and love to relax with our whole family on the weekends! We also love going to the mountains with close friends of ours!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken pot-pie (from scratch), Pieogies (from scratch), Gulumpkie (stuffed cabbage), Hulushki, Thanksgiving dinner, anything new that tickles my fancy
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my grandmother and all of the polish side of my family getting togehter to make pierogies. Cooking with my kids. Discussing recipes with my brothers, father and mother. Tasting the new recipes my sister-in-law brings to our family (she is Puerto Rican)!
My cooking triumphs
My best recipe is a carrot cake that I got from Food & Wine magazine. You make the cake, the cream cheese frosting and the caramel for the top! My husband also loves it when I make gulumpkie (stuffed cabbage).
My cooking tragedies
I have a knack for throwing things together and making them come out great, but when it comes to simple things, I have a rough time! Gravy is probably my biggest nemesis. It always turns out lumpy. I have been practicing though. Baking is not one of my strong points either. I'm not a measure-it-out kind of girl, so baking becomes challenging. You can always learn new things about cooking and that is what I love about it! Everyone has a strong point and a weak point.
