About this Cook
Professor of Mathematics, amateur cook, yummy cookie baker.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies and cakes. More out of necessity, because my wife tells me we can't live on cookies, I also enjoy making some normal dishes, pastas, meatloaf, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love creme puffs, but I don't yet know how to make them.
My cooking triumphs
A 1-2-3-4 cake. Even though the recipe is fairly easy, the cake dries out really fast if you overcook it. After three tries, I finally got it.
My cooking tragedies
Egg nog when I was 16 years old. I used all of my mothers eggs and the nog was terrible. It was probably the recipe. lol

Barbecued Beef
Delicious and easy! I added a sliced onion and omitted the liquid smoke and it turned out fantastic.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken
I love this recipe. I now use it to grill chicken. I get thighs or quarters and put the rub on liberally. Oil the grill with a little olive oil and cook away (about 45 min). Arrange the coals so that only half the grill is over the direct heat. I then cook the chicken over the non coal side for about 45 minutes. You should only turn it once and don't poke at it with a fork. The crispness from the grill, the charcoal flavor, and the spices make for an excellent meal. I haven't had anyone dislike it yet. Thank you for the simple rub recipe.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake II
To someone who is new in the kitchen, this sounded disgusting (but interesting). I thought "all of these people can't be wrong." They weren't. Extremely moist cake. No frosting needed. In fact, I think frosting detracts from the taste of the cake.
