Indonesian Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng)

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
I thought this recipe was very good. A Dutch coworker of mine recommended that I cook the onions in bacon grease first and I'm so glad I did! The flavor was wonderful. I added some musherooms that I had on hand and chile paste. I didn't have any shrimp so I just used a full pound of chicken. I also didn't have a leek so I added green onion. Everything else I kept the same. I can't wait to make this again.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
This was so yummy! I followed a lot of reviewers advice and did the following: used frozen chicken breast (so easy!), used low sodium chicken broth instead of water, doubled the cumin and chili powder, and added a can of black beans. I kept everything else the same, and it was awesome!!!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
This was amazing! I forgot kiwis so I threw in a pear to make up for missing fruit. I also used blueberries instead of raseberries, since thats what I had on hand. I cut the sugar in half and it still turned out a bit sweet, so I think next time I will omit the sugar altogether. I will for sure be making this again!

Creme Brulee II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This was my first attempt at creme brulee (made for a pre-Valentine Day dinner) and it turned out AMAZING! I followed others tips and used 4 egg yolks and cooked it for a solid 45 min and it was perfect. I did up the sugar to a skimpy 1/3 cup just because we like it a little on the sweet side. I used a cooking torch and it was very yummy.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
Soooo good. I used chicken instead of beef and it was delicious. I left out the ginger but left everything else the same. I loved the chile pepper sauce in it, it gave it a great zing. I will absolutely make this again. I served it with the vegatable lo mein and crab rangoon III (both from Allrecipes.com).

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2010
This was just ok. My biggest complaint was the canned crab. This was my first and last time using it. If I decide to make this again, I will need to splurge on fresh backfin. I thought they were fairly easy to put together but very time consuming. I did switch out water chestnuts for green onion. I fried them and the consistency was pretty good. I think using fresh crabmeat would have taken this from average to delicious.

Crab Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2010
I would have given it a higher rating if I hadn't changed it so much. I used a pound of fresh backfin crabmeat, 8oz cream cheese, 1 cup mayo, and one cup sour cream. I sauteed a half onion with four cloves of minced fresh garlic before I mixed it in with everything else. I also added a tbls of Old Bay seasoning and topped it off with some shredded cheese. With those tweaks it was very good.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
The flavor was really good! I didn't have Italian dressing, so I left it out. I added some red pepper flakes for a little spice and added an onion. We had it on buttery toasted buns with sauteed squash on the side. Yum! Used left overs for salads.

Mexican White Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
This was a great base recipe! I followed some of the other reviewers advice. I used 1 cup Miracle Whip, 1 cup sour cream, and only put in 1/2 cup milk (I like it a little thicker). I also added in addition to the other ingredients a heaping tbls of ranch dressing, a 1/2 tsp paprika and onion salt, 1/4 tsp cayanne pepper, and doubled the red pepper flakes. It was very good! I am a big fan of the white sauce in my fav VA Beach Mexican joint.

Giovanna's Yummy Cheese Onions

So amazing! Everyone loved it this Thanksgiving and is requesting that I make it for Christmas as well. The only thing I changed was the milk to half and half. It made it rich and wonderful!.
