Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2006
Wonderful! I used breadcrumbs (didn't have cornflakes) and fresh garden picked peppers. Most of the 'heat' comes from the seeds and ribs. Scrape the ribs out for milder tasting poppers, leave them intact for a hotter taste.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2006
I haven't bought store-bought pita's since I found this recipe a couple years ago. These are so much better than anything you can buy. I find if you let the dough balls sit for about 5 minutes before rolling them out, they're much easier to roll into a uniform circle.

Broccoli Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2006
Fabulous salad! I used only a 1/2 cup of oil and added thinly sliced red cabbage. Not only did it tast amazing, it looked beautiful. I was hoping to try the leftovers the next day... but there weren't any!

Grilled Onion Blossom

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
Wonderful! We all loved this. I altered the recipe just a little. I used a red onion. After slicing, I sprinkled with one packet of chicken boullion (instead of salt), one smashed clove of garlic and topped with Becel (margarine). After cooking and carefully unwrapping I was able to carefully transfer to a small bowl with a slotted spoon with the onion intact. I removed the garlic and poured the the cooking juice over the onion. It looked beautiful. It did completely fall apart with the first serving, but it disappeared so fast there was hardly time to notice.

Foil Wrapped Veggies

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2006
These were so good! We often make a similar recipe with just potatoes & sweet potatoes. I love grean beans, but questioned how well they would cook and taste with the potatoes. They were my favourite part! The fresh herbs add a wonderful subtle flavour. Will make again and again.

Potato Rosemary Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2006
One of our favourite roll recipes. They look and taste wonderful. I often use the shaping technique descriped for other dinner roll recipes. I substitute milk for the water/powdered milk and use 1 TBSP of dried rosemary (finely ground with my mortal and pestle).

Barbeque Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2006
Fabulous! Works with any kind of fish. The basting method works well, as does marinating for a hour or so. All 4 kids love it, even the one who 'doesn't eat fish'!

These are wonderful! I throw everything in my bread machine and run the dough setting. Roll, rise and bake ... they come out perfect everytime.
