My name is Jenny and I am a divorced mother of two little precious ones. My oldest, Jasmine just turned 6 on November 2, and my son Tucker is on his way to being the big 4 at the end of April.
My son has a health condition called Crohns disease, so I am now dedicated to finding toddler-approved recipes that keep his diet restrictions in mind.
I recently became engaged to a wonderful guy who is very supportive of my love of cooking and is willing to try just about anything!
My favorite things to cook
I am really into making Italian inspired dishes but I like to try my hand at just about anything.
I like to create in the kitchen when I have time, but that is not terribly often.
If I had to describe my cooking style, I would definitely say I am a 'pinch of this' 'splash of that' kind of cook. I rarely write down recipes to my creations.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I really love cooking for Thanksgiving. I use my maternal grandmother's recipes for many of my loved childhood favorites and look forward to making them each year.
My fiancee's family is one of those that get together for every person's birthday and have a homemade meal and a get together. Love going to those!
Also...every November they all get together and have an annual 'Cookie Day' for the holidays. I don't know who has more fun...the kids or the big kids!
My cooking triumphs
I made my dad a homemade lasagna and he said that it was the best he ever had. Big compliment from the guy who fondly remembers his late mother's homemade pasta sauce! He said I should open a restaurant....and my dad is not an overly ambitious kind of lad :)
My cooking tragedies
After my divorce I bought a cheap crock-pot and made a pot roast for the kids and I for dinner (I am a single working mom).
However, I didn't wash it well enough apparently before use and our roast tasted like toxic chemicals. I was horrified.
