Divorced, working professional, was single mom raising my three boys, was their soccer coach, den mother, we were an active family. My oldest son had special needs and lived with me until we lost him this summer two days after his 24th birthday. I think of him everyday and will for the rest of my life. My other two are pretty much on their own (except when it's time to pay tuition, buy books, short on rent, etc) which I don't mind at all. They are the joy of my life and I have been blessed in so many ways. So, it's on to new adventures in the next chapter of my life, but cooking, sharing good food with family and friends, drinking good wine will always be a constant source of enjoyment for me.
My favorite things to cook
Since I work full time I love my crock pot. On the weekends I like to experiment with different dishes and spices that I don't have time for during the week. I enjoy canning as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We all love crab cakes, always make them for special dinners. For the past few years my middle son has taken on the responsibility of cooking the Thanksgiving turkey. He has been away to school for the past 7 years and each Thanksgiving eve we will stay up late and brine the turkey, make some pies and just talk.
My cooking triumphs
ummmm, I guess I would say my beef wellington, although I think I have perfected my meatloaf recipe with a "secret" ingredient.
My youngest son made homemade green chili chicken enchilladas for me and I didn't even realize he could cook, when I asked him how did he do it, he replied I watched you Mom......that is my biggest cooking triumph
My cooking tragedies
1000 characters is probably not enough but the most recent tragedy was a champagne punch I made for Christmas 2008; it was horrible, gave everyone a tummy ache. A complete waste of good booze.....
