The Best Mashed Potatoes

Wow, I was so impressed with this recipe. I have never made my own Mashed Potatoes before, and this was relatively easy, and incredibly delicious. I followed the advice of other reviewers and doubled the milk and butter, which made it perfect!!!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

I bought 2 of these Eye Round Roasts without knowing that it was such a tough cut. The first one I made turned out absolutely awful, had to feed it to the dog. Then for the second one, I tried this recipe, and let me tell you, it turned out so moist and tender! Thanks very much for the tip.

Alfredo Sauce

WOW. I have been dying to make a restaurant quality Alfredo sauce for so long, and this is DEFINITELY it!I sauteed some shrimp in a separate pan in some olive oil with some garlic, and then put the shrimp on top of the pasta and poured the sauce over it. I made sure to not pour the pan full of shrimp and broth over it, I forked out the shrimp and placed them onto the pasta. This avoids the fishy taste. It was fantastic.

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

This is the same recipe that my paternal grandmom passed down to my dad, and he taught my mom. It's more like a jumping off point than a recipe. You start with those ingredients then add more till you have the right taste and right amount of frosting. Works great every time!

Easy Crescent Danish Rolls

I did the same thing the other reviewer did, I just filled them and then rolled them like a normal crescent roll, but I tucked the sides together more tightly. One thing, I thought there was way too much cream cheese mixture. I had SO much extra that I used it as frosting on a cake I had made earlier. I also used some apple filling in some of them, and semi-sweet chocolate chips in some, too. They were pretty good, and very easy.

Black Magic Cake

This cake was spectacular. VERY moist. I didn't have buttermilk so I used a tablespoon of lemon juice and the rest of the cup 2% milk. I was worried but it worked out very well. This will be the only chocolate cake recipe I use in the future.

Really Easy Bread Stuffing

I tried this out and I was kind of disappointed. I did as other reviewers suggested and I sauteed onions and celery in butter then used that to moisten the bread. It was too buttery for my taste and my boyfriend didn't like it either. It may actually be better with just the water. It did look pretty though, and I submitted a picture because there wasn't one up there yet.

Zippy Summer Shrimp

This was great. I made it and served it on top of shell pasta. I used slightly less lemon juice than was called for and it turned out delicious. I will definitely make it again, and it only took the same amount of time that the pasta did to cook.

Mustard Oil Dressing

My mom taught me to make this same thing, but we skip the onion and garlic powders, and use real pressed garlic instead, and we also add some basil. If you let it sit over night, it get's even better! I use it for pasta salad all the time.

Apple Cake IV

I only had four apples, so that's what I used, but it came out great. I took the advice of the other reviewers and cut the sugar to 1 3/4 c, and also reduced the oil to 3/4 c. It's VERY moist, and it was absolutely SPECTACULAR with French Vanilla Ice Cream. YUMMY!

Meatball Nirvana

I'm sorry, I really thought this would be good with all the fabulous reviews, but no one would even eat it. The onions were CRUNCHY, and ruined the whole effect. My BF says they're just like these things his mom used to make when he was little, except those were Meat CAKES, not meat balls. They used to eat them with ketchup. I would never make these again.

Bubble Pizza

I was pretty pleased. I used a ceramic dish instead of metal and the bottoms of the biscuits came out just right. I didn't do the whole meat sauce thing, I just used tomato sauce and put the cheese on, then threw on some onions and broccoli. It turned out great.

Yellow Layer Cake

Not bad. I had issues with the texture, it was a little thick- but I might not have stirred it enough. Everyone loved it though, the flavor was good. It's also nice because it was quick and easy.

Pralines, Coffee and Cream Cake

Very unique cake. It is really rich, and like some of the others said, it's definitely a 'grown-up' cake. I made it for a birthday, so to make it prettier I made two 8 x 8 cakes, put the pralines on top, then put icing in the middle and on the sides. I also reserved some icing to use as a border, melted some butter and a square of bakers chocolate and added that to the reserved icing. I put the border around the praline top, and at the bottom. The whole thing was absolutely delicious, and it looked great that way, too.

Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast

SO I'm giving it 5 stars, but I actually made it totally differently. I sliced three apples and an onion and a clove of garlic. I sauteed all these in a pan with butter until the apples were soft and the onion were clear. I stuffed the chicken breasts with the mixture and shredded cheddar cheese, then put in a roasting pan, and covered with more cheese and crumbled ritz crackers, covered, and baked for about 45 minutes at 375. I uncovered at that point and allowed it to brown for about 15 more minutes. SO DELICIOUS, everyone LOVED them!

Oma's Cottage Cheesecake

I was really surprised by how well this came out. I put some apple chunks in mine (mistake!) and they weren't all the way cooked when the cake was done, but I will definitely make again without them. I also made a pretzel crust because I didn't have graham crackers. That worked out well. Thanks for the sinful taste without the calories!
