About this Cook
I am a happy, joyful vegan! I live in constant elation that my values of compassion, environmentalism, animal rights, and non-violence are not only reflected in my actions but also my consumer habits. Not to mention vegan food is DELICIOUS, healthy, filling, completely nutritious, decadent, and a pleasure to cook! My husband is not vegan but is happy living in a vegan home with a vegan wife cooking him vegan food. I feed omnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike... everyone loves vegan cooking. Where there's passion, there's success. And naturally: if it tastes good, they will eat it! :) I normally eat a clean, processed-free diet. This being said I do use faux meat and cheese when I feel the recipe will be significantly improved. I love “veganizing” omni dishes. Lots of love and warm hugs! Jasmin
My favorite things to cook
I am of a German/Peruvian background... so I especially love Peruvian and German food. I also love Japanese, Indian, American and everything else. I love to bake too...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Peruvian Food, Thai Food, Indian Food, German Food, Canadian Food...
My cooking triumphs
Every vegan meal, in my humble opinion, is a triumph. A triumph for compassion, the enviornment, our health, our world and resources. Win/win/win.

Sweet Potato Pie I
My first time every baking or eating a sweet potato pie! Excellent! Like a pumpkin pie, this pie can overbake - make sure to turn off heat when middle is still giggly - leave the oven a crack open with a wooden spoon and let cool off nice and slowly. This is the FOOL PROOF way to avoid cracks in sweet potato, pumpkin, cheesecake, etc. Actually anything custardy!! Even leave the oven door entirely closed for the cooling - but make sure the centre is VERY giggly when doing so. THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING RECIPE! Didnt change anything other than upping the spices and adding 2 tablespoons of flour.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese
HOW is this recipe NOT number 1? Literally best recipe in the WORLD! Totally agree with the suggestion of adding just a tad of milk. I like to do my mac&cheese "German" style by adding caramelized onions. In Germany, they have their own version of Mac and Cheese and it's very common to add a layer of caramelized onions instead of breadcrumbs. It's simply amazing!! So I do both, add onions and top with breadcrumbs... yummmm!!!

Tofu and Veggies in Peanut Sauce
Yummy! I double the sauces and added onions and thai hot sauce instead of cayenne - at first. It wasn't spicy enough for my taste so I went ahead and added the cayenne. A remarkably simple but DELICIOUS meal! Very filling too! Highly recommended!
