China Lake Barbequed Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
I made this before I knew what it was...lol! I got the recipe from a friend of mine and the look on peoples faces with that first bite is always shock of how delicious it is! I do it a little different. I use low sodium soy sauce otherwise it's too salty and I marinade it overnight. Then I sprinkle garlic power all over the steak, slice a lemon in half and rub the garlic powder into the steak with the lemon half. Both sides of course ;)

Easy Toffee

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
I screwed up the first time I made it and didn't bake it. Now I don't want to bake it because it's SOOOOO good as is, not baked. I let the sugar/butter boil for 3-4 minutes. Dump it on the crackers (salt side down), sprinkle mini(they melt easier) chocolate chips, let them melt a minute and then spread. It doesn't seem like they will spread at first, but they do. PERFECT combo of chewy, sweet, crispy and salty.

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2013
Delicious! We loved it. I used only one small can of tomato paste instead of a large can of tomato puree. We served it over Jasmine rice. For some reason our lentils cooked CRAZY fast and were tender and getting mushy in like 10 minutes. Next time we may add a can of coconut milk to thin and smooth it out a bit. It is quite thick and pasty, but I would still give it 5 stars even without any changes.

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2004
WOW!! I will never enjoy fried rice in a resturant again knowing that I am missing this! We LOVED it! I tripled the recipe and it was still all gobbled up! For the meats I used chicken with teriaki sauce and boneless pork glazed with chinese red sauce (ah-so sauce) I just baked them both in the oven together earlier in the day. I made the white rice at this time also. I changed the veggies a bit to my families liking. It was a snap to whip together at dinnertime. Now whenever I make any meats the leftovers go right in the freezer for next time I make this!

Alysia's Basic Meat Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
HUGE hit with the whole family!! I used 1/2 sausage and 1/2 ground beef as other suggested and it added a PERFECT little kick! I also used extra sauce as suggested, but I won't next time as I think I would like it a litle drier....not a huge tomato sauce fan.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2012
This is now in our regular rotation. We like it with coconut rice, burrito style the best. We also use half jalapeno and half green chili to make it a bit spicier.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
As other reviewers suggested, I dredged in flour before frying. I also used 1T Sriracha instead of the hot sauce. Was not n' spicy... but not overly so, and DELICIOUS!!!!! Definitely will make again, often.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
Family favorite! Everyone raves about this apple crisp, and my partner expects it as his yearly "birthday cake." It's super easy to make, and sometimes I substitute pancake mix for the flour (I was out of flour once), and I think they like that even more!

Gnocchi with Sage-Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
I made this on a whim on a boring Sunday afternoon to go with roast pork. I used the "quick gnocchi" recipe on here that uses instant potatoes for the gnocchi part. These were SO GOOD! The sage-butter sauce, is just so different from "the usual" stuff we eat. I was not expecting them to be as delicious as they were, and the family to love them as much as they did. Now they keep asking me to make them again, and frankly, they were kind of a nuisance to make ;-)

Potato Dumplings II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
These were pretty good...kind of chewy and like a pasta pancake. I only made them once...so I guess they weren't a HUGE hit at our house...but they were good.

Easy Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2004
Not a big hit at my house. My family thought the topping was too sweet/sugary and the apples had "no flavor." I used red delicious. Won't use this one again. (if I HAD to...I would coat the apples with cinnamon and a little nutmeg, use 1/2 the water, use less of the topping...and maybe a little more butter.
