Tea Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
The first time I made them, I had no shortening so I used just butter and it turned out really well. Now, I use half shortening half butter. This keeps it flaky (the shortening) and flavorful (the butter).

Sour Cream Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
I made this for a Christmas party at my boyfriend's. Because he didn't have a bundt pan, I made it in a bread pan, which obviously would make thorough cooking more difficult. I cooked it almost completely, took it out, cut down the middle, covered it with parchment paper so it wouldn't burn, and then finished baking it. It turned out great, a perfect texture to it. I did a glaze on it, and then dribbled chocolate over it.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
This is now my go to Lemon Meringue Pie recipe. I did it pretty much exactly as the recipe called for, and it turned out great! It looked good and disappeared very quickly! I let it chill in the fridge for probably about four hours before serving, and that was plenty of time.

Crumb-Coated Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
I didn't have any curry because I was at a friends house, so I omitted that, but plan on trying it next time. Everyone loved the chicken, and I've actually used this recipe, a little bit altered, to bread pork chops (which I had never made before), and they also were well received!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
Delicious! I didn't bother attempting to pour the mixture over the crust, so I mixed it in with the apples. I think that this would coat the apples more evenly, anyway. I also added nutmeg and cinnamon, which worked out well. Everyone loved it, the pie pan was empty in minutes, with people fighting for seconds!
