Marble Cheesecake
Hazelnut cake with cream cheese filling and dark chocolate ganache frosting (vegan)
My beautiful pink cupcakes!
About this Cook
I love baking and slowly learning how to cook savoury things as well. I'm gathering some experience for the future, trying to cook more for myself, and my focus is on healthy food. I do Crossfit, so I like cooking high protein, clean food, as much as possible, to complement my training.
My favorite things to cook
Anything dessert-y really. Cakes are probably my favourite, though they take a lot of time. But I can really put my all into them. I love making anything with chocolate, as long as it's good cocoa/chocolate. I also like learning to make classic things I haven't made before.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma used to make absolutely amazing gefilte fish. No one's ever made anything even resembling that. It's cheesy but it was my favourite comfort food and no one will ever even come close.
My cooking triumphs
An 8-layer vegan hazelnut cake with vegan chocolate cream cheese filling and dark belgian chocolate ganache. It took be about 5 hours to make overall but I was so proud of it.
My cooking tragedies
Lemon meringue pie. I tried making it probably 2 or 3 times and I could never get the lemon curd to set properly. I am taking a break from trying until further notice. It was very disappointing. Custards are hard!!!

Magic Cookie Bars from EAGLE BRAND(r)
Great recipe, easy to make, but I would like to point out that the amount of graham cracker crumbs is in no way enough for a 13x9 pan (which is strange, because the rest of the recipe seems to be for that size except the crust). It's enough for a 9x9. So if you want to make it better, use at least 2 cups of crumbs (2.5 would be perfect I think) and I would use just a tiny bit more butter, not to scale because the way the recipe is originally makes for a VERY greasy crust and that's not great, nor does it hold together very well. Another big tip: premix all the ingredients that go on the crust in advance, then spread them over. It makes for a more uniform filling and easier to spread over the crust.

It's Chili by George!!
My first time making chili, I wanted to find a recipe that would be simple but good. As soon as I mixed everything in the pot, I knew it was a good recipe because the smell just spelled "chili". I haven't tried making a lot of changes to it yet, in the future I will experiment. I cut the recipe in half because it was a trial portion, and this time I just added more cayenne (x3, I like spicy!), about a tablespoon of agave syrup (in addition to cane sugar instead of white sugar), and a few splashes of chipotle tabasco sauce. Also, some raw cocoa powder (about 2 tbsp) - I heard this does wonders for subtly enhancing the taste. I only used kidney beans because I prefer them to pinto. Next time I might try diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce because I do like thicker/chunky chili, plus fresh tomatoes might add an extra zing to it. I also browned the onions for about a minute before throwing the rest of the stuff in, I think it works well. The recipe worked great though, thank you!

Candy Cane Cookies I
Overall good but lists too much butter/shortening and too much salt. Fat starts to separate out and a teaspoon of salt is way too much for this recipe. You could taste the salt too much.
