About this Cook
I am a 25 year old SAHM. I love to cook, bake and try new recipes. My husband and daughter are finicky eaters so its a little more difficult to find things to suit there tastes.
My favorite things to cook
I will attempt to cook just about anything. Being a SAHM gives me the freedom, time and patience to try new things. I love pasta dishes and anything with a cream based sauce. But most of my specialties are desserts and sweet dishes. What can I say, you're good at making desserts when you have a sweet tooth! I prefer not to deep fat fry anything in my house and I dont like to cook bacon (hate the way it makes my house smell!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a long line of Dutchmen so all of my family cooking traditions are based on large groups of people and hearty put-meat-on-your-bones food. My favorite recipe would have to be Ollieballen which is basically yeast risen dough balls with raisins deep fried and dipped in powered sugar. Oh so heavenly yummy!
My cooking triumphs
Just the other day I made my first pumpkin pie and it came out perfectly! I was so proud of myself. I have fears of failure when I try new recipes or techniques but they always come out spectacular!
My cooking tragedies
I remember when I first started cooking, I could not for the life of me make pancakes or french toast. No matter what I did they always burnt or tore when I tried to flip. Since then I have perfected the art of pancake making and my daughter loves them.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
Awesome served with warm dinner rolls! The only thing I changed was omitting the bay leaf as I dont care for the taste.

Michelle's Blonde Chicken Chili
Awesome with some prep changes! I used the same pot (saving dishes here!) for browning the chicken and cooking the actual soup. Adds alot of flavor with the bits from the bottom of the pot. I also drained the bean juice from the cans as I dont like the taste.

Lyonnaise Potatoes
Very good side dish. I had these at a fancy steakhouse and my husband has asked for them since. I did omit alot of prep steps to save time. I added all the ingredients to a 13x9 casserole dish, covered with foil and baked for 1 hour at 350.
