Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
I usually make my own BBQ sauce, but came across this one and decided to try it since it is similiar to the one I make. It is delicious! I added some crushed red pepper flakes because I like it a tad on the spicey side. In my own sauce, I add coffee. I think I missed that layer of flavor in this recipe, but this was so good.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
This recipe is very, very similiar to my own version. I add garlic to the onions while onions are cooking, I use beef and chicken stock from the carton instead of canned, omit the vinegar and add my secret ingredient --- a cup of coffee!!!

This is such a treat! I used Naan bread for ease. Delicious! Make sure veggies are cut up well.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Used the base recipe and added additional veggies that I had on hand. Sauteed veggies (onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, asparagus) turned off the pan and added spinach to wilt. Crumbled bacon and added. I also added hot sauce to the batter. It reminded me a little of a spinach pizza.

Made this yesterday using skirt steak. It was delicious!Sliced against the grain and sliced thin. Served it over a Greek style salad. Thanks for the recipe.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I made this for my daughter, whose boyfriend was having a beer tasting party. She is not really one to pass out compliments, but made sure to let me know that everyone made a fuss over the chili. She said that she overheard several people saying, "Have you tasted the chili? Oh my God!" She said several people went back for thirds. I omitted the celery, added extra beans and used fresh jalapenos. Simmered two hours, placed in crock pot and placed in fridge overnight. Plugged in the crock pot next day and let heat on low for about 5 hours. When I tasted it to adjust seasonings, it didn't need anything...just tasted "smooth". I sent tortilla chips, cheese and sour cream to put out with it. No need for another chili recipe.

Mediterranean Puff Pastry Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
This was excellent! The only addition I made was to add toasted pinenuts. I also cut the chicken into strips. Will absolutely make this again.
