About this Cook
I love big, old-timey recipes that use fresh ingredients. I love experimenting with spices and my absolute favorite treat in the whole world is Moishe's kosher pickles in brine.
My favorite things to cook
I love using the slow cooker! My favorite food has to be soup. Any soup, all soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook from my mother and grand-mother, who have very distinct styles. Mine is a mix of healthy and traditional, with staples from all over the world.
My cooking triumphs
My spaghetti sauce is pretty much the way my grandkids will know it 50 years from now. It's a mix of different recipies but it's thouroughly mine and it come out the same every time, which amazes me. I can also cook a whole chiken or turkey with any cookware, including beer cans. More recently, I have been trying my hand at pies, with great success!
My cooking tragedies
Curry à la bitter, gravy à la flour, stew à la mode (the mode for a while being burnt), pasta à la mode, chiken à la salmonella and cooking a huge pot of cabbage and vegetable soup only to realize that I hate the smell of cooked cabbage. I have also never made a respectable cookie, but I'm working on it!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds
I've been making this for years but this time, being on a bit of a health kick, I substituted the butter for coconut oil. Still amazing! I also add a dash of hot sauce to the mix for kick. I've found they always take longer than the recipe states, about 1h30, sometimes more. My only problem is there's never enough seeds in my pumpkins to go around!

Creamy Lemon Dressing
My new favorite dressing! I made a few changes, the most significant one being the amount of garlic: even though I usually double it in everything, I only used 1 clove after trying it with 3 and burping garlicky for 2 days. Also, I use 3/4 cup fat free yogurt to 1/4 cup olive oil to reduce fat because, trust me, this salad dressing is so delicious you will want to slather your veggies in it!!

Mint Sauce
It's so surprising that a sauce that difficult to find store-bought is so easy to make at home! Thanks a million for sharing, I will never scour the aisles for ready-made again!
