Bristish night - another successful event!!

Well, our hostess, Juli, for the 2nd dinner meeting did a fantastic job.  She started off with butternut toasts with sage ricotta and then a spicy crab with cream cheese on toast.  This was followed by the best cauliflower and mushroom soup I've ever tasted.  Really!!  I brought some home.  The entree consisted of shepherd's pie with garlic cheese mash and a side of cheese ravioli with wilted greens.  Dessert consisted of bread pudding (again, the best I'd ever eaten) and also apple and brie skewers with an awesome homemade caramel sauce and candied pecans.  Yum!!

Not sure how much much of the menu was authentic - but we all sure had fun - and everyone left very full!!

The women were overrun this particular night.  Every meeting will have a few rotating members due to schedules.  Well, this one had 7 men and only 3 women!  We had a blast, though, in spite of all the testosterone in the room.

Oh yeah - beverages were London lemonade (spiked with gin), Cream Sherry and Port Wine all served at the appropriate times.

I am very proud of her.  We only have one rule.  You have to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and make something you've never made before.  Almost everything she made was a new dish for Juli - so, Kudos!!  I told her she better save up, LOL, her turn will come around again.

How often do you have to do the cooking? It sounds like great fun when it is someone else's turn! :) Thanks for sharing.

Each person will have a turn once every two years or so. We ended up with 15 members and mneet every other month.

We had soooooooooo much fun hosting this dinner!! Love your rave reviews!! Agree that the soup was fab, but BREAD PUDDING IS MY WEAKNESS! Both were made by my "let's throw something together and see how it works" husband (whose dishes ALWAYS turn out delish!) - so I have to admit it was a group effort! I loved the pasta and wilted greens, and the apple brie skewers - my vegetarian contributions - lol! Not sure how authentic this was either, but by the second drink we don't care about authenticity - just TASTE!! (Ok, by the first drink we probably didn't care that much - lol!)
