GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
It took me much longer than the stated 70 minutes to bake. It was totally worth the wait! People were moaning with pleasure as they ate it. Thank you for sharing.

Scandinavian Almond Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
Excellent! I sliced and re-baked mine... like biscotti. In order to get some almond slices to stick on them I thickened the icing and drizzled it across. They couldn't have been any better! Thank you for sharing!

Finnish-American Flatbread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
Delicious! In place of the water I used whey from cheese making earlier today. Then, since I had no butter, I used coconut oil to brush on the tops when they came out of the oven. It all worked out perfectly. Next time I'll decrease the white and up the rye flour content. Thank you 2CHAE, from a Canadian Finn!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I always forget to come back and rate recipes, however, this one is too good to forget! This recipe is so simple and deeeelish! I didn't adjust anything except, I added about 1/2 c of chopped walnuts. This will be my 'go to' banana bread recipe from now on. I will play with it though... adding pineapple one time, maybe lime juice and peel another, maybe rum, maybe coconut. Heck, I wonder if I can get all those into one bread?! However, the recipe IS perfect as is. Thank you Shelley Albeluhn. *** So I just made this for the second time. I cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup of coconut sugar. I didn't measure the bananas; I used 5 speckled ones. Instead of butter I used coconut oil. Again I added walnuts.. a whole cupful. And here's the biggie: I used gluten-free flour! This was the first time I have ever baked with it. I made 17 good sized muffins. If I could give the recipe another 5 stars I gladly would. FANtastic once again!

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I'm blown away by how delicious (and easy) this recipe is. I had no butter or margarine in the house so found this recipe. All I had was olive oil, so I used that. I used 2 cups of white flour and 2 cups of whole wheat. I cut the sugar back a little. You cannot beat this yummy loaf! (I'd give more stars if I could) I may tinker a little bit to make is even healthier... perhaps more whole wheat, perhaps some ground flax seed... I love it I love it!

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Yum! I cut the brown sugar to 1/2 cup and the white sugar to 1/4 cup. I'll cut it down again next time. My tastes go towards the 'less sweet' side. I added a bit if fresh nutmeg with the cinnamon wanting it to taste more like my pies. It was wonderful. This is the recipe I was hoping for. A tweak this way or that does not make the original recipe less perfect. I think I'll try adding finely chopped nuts into the 'crisp' next time. The options are endless really. Thank you so much Dave.

Fresh Blueberry Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I took this to a dinner party last night, and everyone loved it. They said it was a whole different experience from a baked blueberry pie. I did like someone in the photos... made pastry cutouts for the top and baked them while the crust was baking. I used the 1/4 tsp of vanilla, almond, cinnamon others suggested. Next time I'll omit the cinnamon. (Completely a person taste with that) I think that without the cinnamon it will taste even more like a 'fresh berry' pie. I used the 1/2 c sugar thinking it would not be too much, but next time I'll cut that back a bit. Served with vanilla ice cream this was fantastic. I will definitely make it again.

True Blue Custard Crunch Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
I took this to a dinner party last night. Everyone loved it. The streusel on top was fantastic and really added to the over-all yumminess. I did make more streusel than called for, and toasted the pecans first. I cut the sugar in the pie down by a third. I'm not a sweet sweet lover and found this to be perfect. I served it with vanilla ice cream. I'll definitely make it again.

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
This is a sure winner. I add only half the caramel though, because it ends up too sweet for my taste buds. It's one of those "died and gone to heaven" cakes.

This is the very best pumpkin pie ever. I've been using this recipe for over 30 years. (oh my gawd... I hate being old enough to say that!) I've tried others and they just don't measure up.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
I don't know how you give 4.5, but that's what I'd give this. It's a wonderful "base" for what I ended up doing. I added more of the herbs... and other things as well; like granulated garlic, sage, some of chicken broth powder (instead of salt) I had frozen leftover turkey breast that was waiting for just the right recipe. I added potatoes and green beans on top of what's called for. I used someone's idea of Bisquick on top because it just made it so simple. I put parsley in that. Man, we both thought it was to die for. Thank you so much for sharing!
