Pork Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2014
My whole family loved these. Served them as a main dish with "easy pancit" recipe on the side. Didn't have sesame oil, still great. Next time I may cheat to save time and purchase shredded cabbage (for cole slaw) and minced garlic in a jar. Lots of leftovers to freeze (if they make it that far).

Bacon-Wrapped Peanut Butter Jalapenos

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
Pretty good! During our camping trip, I prepared our traditional bacon wrapped jalapenos with cream cheese on skewers to grill... But I snuck a few of these peanut butter varieties on there. My husband laughed at me but after he ate one, he was impressed.

Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
Try this: Omit the cheese, add pickled jalapeño. Bake in oven at 400 until bacon was crispy. I put them on metal skewers (4 per skewer) so when they were done, I slid them onto the serving plate- simple. Yum! (If you have a rack, that's ideal so they don't sit in their own grease.)

Chef John's Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
Wow! We desired something new and I was nervous because his video emphasized having the best of crab. My supermarket crab was good enough and we loved these!! (Ps: watch his video, it's great). This was incredible (and crazy easy!!) thanks chef John!

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
OMG, easy and sooo good! Had to use veg. Seasoning (couldn't find leek). Still awesome! Note you MUST let it chill! At first I tasted it and thought "gross mayo taste!!" But 6 hours later the flavors married and it was delicious! I used sliced sourdough and my family is in love!! Made it twice, second time added minced onion. Yum! Thank you!!!

Slow Cooker Western Omelet

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
I wanted a camping breakfast. Made it as stated except my frozen potatoes weren't frozen anymore- due to being in the cooler. My omelet was done in 6 hours on low. Luckily I read other reviews and was prepared for an early finish... I woke up at 3am cause I smelled it. I turned the crock pot off. 3 hours later when we ate, it was still warm but seemed to be too much potato and it kinda settled at the bottom. Either way, delicious! I tossed all of my eggs into a large ziploc bag to "scramble" with milk and used a crock pot liner. Easy cleanup!! :)

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I skipped the pine nuts and it was fantastic to me and acceptable to my non-brussel-sprout-loving family :) Thanks for the recipe :)

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I made this 3 times. First time not so good, but only because quality of meat (used country style ribs). Next two times, excellent using baby back ribs. make the foil pockets as directed, but use the dry rub as explained from other reviewer and definitely do the step at the end where you brush on BBQ sauce and broil for about 5 mins uncovered. YUMMMMMM

Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Made it this morning and got thumbs up from my 7 and 3 year old. Split one sandwich between them and cut 3 year old's up. 7 year old wanted to cut it himself (independent stage) and it was a mess. I gave him another half and he asked just to dip it in syrup- worked much better.

King Ranch Chicken Casserole III

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
Didn't Change a thing! Was delicious! Next time I'll shred the chicken instead of dice and double the recipe since my family ate it up! I needed to use up my leftover chicken and this did it well! Thanks!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
Yum! In the past my fry attempts have been sad... but this dish went great! Used my electric skillet and got rave reviews from my family. Simple ingredients, followed to a "T". I did cook it less than 5 mins, so just eyeball it to a golden brown on each side. Served with mashed potatoes, salad and black eyed peas for New Years! Definitely a keeper! :)

OREO® and Fudge Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I've made this a few times. Always well received. As a twist this past time, I used mint oreos. yum! Work fast and it might help to freeze the cake for 10 mins before you ice.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
Excellent as written with the *must freeze before dipping* advice from all... but you've got to try these with Mint Oreos! I ran out of chocolate, so instead I rolled each ball in the crumbs then drizzled with chocolate. Woo Hoo! Tastes best when really cold.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
The pasta was already cooking and YIKES I'm out of spaghetti sauce! I whipped this up in no time and the family loved it! I added minced garlic and onion since it was already prepared... was a great compliment. Thanks for this recipe!

Witches' Brew

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
The concept was right on the money, but I botched it up... not the fault of the recipe. Here's some tips: 1: Use a razor blade to remove the glove. Just before I broke off pinky and thumb, my husband suggested it. huge difference and I saved all 5 fingers!! 2: my hand wouldn't stay upright. I'm guessing I should have anchored it, or had a more shallow/more narrow bucket. 3: I used a orange dream punch (delicious- search for it). I should have used clear punch to get better effect. 4: I didn't have cranberries, so I mushed up canned pears- worked perfectly. I'll redo this again next year for sure!! :)

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This turned out great! I poured it into a bundt pan and sprinkled powdered sugar on top. I served it with a simple dip (cream cheese, marshmallow puff, dash of vanilla...adjust ratio to your taste preference). good stuff!!
