Aracely's Flan

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
Okay, my flan after 2.5hrs, is just now set...dissapointing. I think I will just use a water bath in the oven for now on. BUT, the texture is perfect. I think it's due to the egg yolks being used without any whites. I will use this recipe for the custard part, but make traditional caramel with white sugar (no butter, that can make it taste too sweet), and bake in oven in the future.

Tortillas II

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Fantastic! I made two batches that each made 12 med burito/fajita size tortillas. I needed to add another 1/4cup of water, but that may be because of the whole wheat flour I had to use because I was low on the regular stuff. To anyone complaining of dryness, you must use a damp kitchen towel to store just cooked tortillas no matter their size or thickness...I'm not sure of any recipe for tortillas that would not require you to do so. I was able to roll my tortillas out very thin: once I got the hang of it, I could roll one out as the other was cooking. Also, for a little more flavor on my second batch, I substituted the salt for ham soup base...yummy! Thank you for the recipe, I doubt I will ever buy store bought again!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
If I was rating this recipe just on ease only, then I would give this a five star. This version is easy to prepare, no doubt there. I followed this recipe to a T, as I really hate seing reviews where the original recipe is unreconizable. After trying this out two times though, I just could not get over the texture. It tasted just like the pizza I ate for lunch in highschool. The pizza looked great though, and I made this on a metal pizza pan, then on a pizza stone, but I ended up with the same results. Thanks for the recipe though, alot of people do like it, I'm just not a fan of this type.

Peanut-Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
A very good recipe! I made two small batches of this, the first one exactly as listed, then another one with modifications (used rice wine vinegar, sesamee oil, tbs honey, no red pepper). Both were great, though I made the second one with honey to balance the tangy and spicy for a well rounded sauce. First was too spicy for the kids, but I loved the Kick! This recipe is good as is, but also easy to modify with out loosing original purpose. Thanks for the recipe, we had no leftovers!

Cheesy Salmon Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
As is, this recipe is okay. I just could not get over the canned salmon. I tried, I really did; but as I was picking through the canned salmon, I was grossed out. So, I threw it out, and tried with frozen salmon. Much better! Then I realized I really don't prefer pesto with salmon. However, this recipe as a base is pretty good. It's easy to switch things out for personal preferance. I never thought to put salmon and parmesean cheese together, and that I DO like! Thanks for the idea :)

South of the Border Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This recipe is exactly what I was looking for. Had this at a friends house and loved it. Very easy to make, and best of all, it's versatile. You can eat it chilled in the summer or drain the tomato and saute for a warm side dish in colder months. Thanks for posting this recipe.

Cream of Onion and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Oooh, I love potato soup and this was so easy to make. I made mine with half idaho potato and half gold yukon which makes the texture oh so good. It smelled great cooking, and tasted wonderful on day one and two. This recipe is also a good base for additions such as ham, cheese, etc. Thanks again!

Chicken Angelo

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
This was a very easy dish to make that is even better the next day. The kids ate it up, company raved, and even got my hubby to wash the dishes in appreciation. I'm not a chicken fan, but then again I was never creative in cooking it either! Thanks for the recipe, will make again.
