Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

I haven't made this yet so I didn't want to rate it (but can't post without giving a rating so I'll go with 5 stars to avoid penalizing the recipe unfairly) I do want to use it for Christmas gifts. I am concerned that some folks say the peas and lentils aren't done enough. I wonder if the instructions ought to say to add the jar ingredients to the cooked beef with WATER initially but not with the tomato products? When cooking any legume, acidic ingredients like tomatoes will prevent them from getting tender so those ingredients should be added later. My lentils--cooked as lentils--usually cook in 25 minutes (package says 15-20) so I wonder if early addition of the tomatoes have prevented them getting done in 45 minutes in this recipe?

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken

Great recipe but I did want to post a caution. I see a number of recent reviewers have said they used left-over marinade for a sauce. Be very careful if you do this as marinades used with raw meat need to be boiled for a few minutes (not just brought to a boil) to be safe to eat (because of possible bacteria in raw meat-samonella in the case of chicken.) It is safer to make extra marinade and reserve some to be used as sauce as some reviewers have said they did.

Squash-Carrot Casserole

With many recipes that call for stuffing topping, it works better to add that ingredient about half-way through the oven baking part. The topping doesn't need to "cook" and I've found it will sometimes get too hard/brown otherwise.

Cornbread and Sausage Stuffing

This is really good and easy but be sure to use garlic POWDER not garlic salt! Also, I didn't use quite so much because garlic isn't really a "stuffing flavor" to me.
